Poured into a classic Duvel tulip.
Appearance: Pours a deep, translucent black a finger and a half tan head that recedes disappointingly fast, leaving very little lacing behind.
Aroma: Pretty low key for an imperial stout. Roasted malts, faint chocolate, leafy green hops and surprisingly little lacing.
Taste: Light herbal hops up front that fade into notes of baker's chocolate and fresh black coffee. Finishes with off dry with slightly nutty, bitter roasted malts.
Mouthfeel: Thin Bodied, with low to moderate carbonation.
Overall: I was expecting a very full bodied and textured, coffee forward stout, Instead what I got was a shockingly thin bodied imperial stout with some slight notes of coffee. If this was a 5 percent Dry Irish Stout, fine, but when I try a 9% percent imperial stout, I don't want a thin, refreshing stout. I think with some tweaking in the malt bill this can be a very good stout.
