Nice when poured from its bottle. Dark ruby when the light hits it right, but otherwise opaque dark brown, like the color of the bottle. Bone-white, half-finger head quickly dissapears into a lasting ring with some lace islands scattered everywhere.
Deep inhalation reveals roasted coffee beans, caramel, and ever-so-slight floral hops.
I'm a little surprised at the shyness of "Sebastapole's Own Hard Core Coffee" (as it reads on the bottle) in taste. The roasted, maybe even smokey, barley dominates. The malt reminds me more of Cooperstown's Benchwarmer. A little bitter hop finish. It's not deserving of the "Cappuccino" namesake.
Kind of dry, and small carbonation bite the tip of my tongue.
In the end, I guess some may say it's futile (and it has nothing to do with the beer itself), but I really like when micros/crafts put together a nice, classy bottle and label. Lagunitas always has simple labels printed on nice paper. I appreciate that.
