Poured from a "bomber" bottle into a wine goblet.
Dark brown/black in color with ruby highlights. Nice looking thick head of tan foam.
Aroma-Roasted coffee, faint citrus note
Taste-French roast coffee/cappuccino, citrus zest. Smooth and creamy. Alcohol not evident. Great character and coffee flavor. Highly recommended.

Poured from 22oz bomber into a pint glass.

Appearance: rich brown hue more reminiscent of coffee than a black stout. Head poured a finger of frothy tan foam. Not a bad looking beer.

Smell: rich aroma of charred grains and sweet fruity malt characteristics; I'm getting raisin, tobacco and even some chili aromas. There's also a bit of coffee in with the mix. I like it a lot, but it is a little bit rough-edged; it could use some smoothing on those harsh roasted grains.

Taste: harsh roasted grains and vegetal hops inform the flavor of this one. I wish it tasted more like its aroma. None of the complex subtle fruit is here; it's a strong stout with some blown-out bitter flavors. Decent, but not great.

Mouthfeel: big body with a good carbonation and a silky smooth texture. I quite like it.

Overall: my hopes were really dashed by the flavor here, since I like the aroma quite a lot. This is still a decent stout, but I don't think it lives up to what it could be.

Served on-tap at a local craft influenced bar.

A: Pours nearly black. The dark brown gives way to some lighter shades. A decent ivory head sticks around and grabs the glass where it can.

S: As a coffee lover, this one was nice. Coffee, chocolate, roasted malts explode.

T: Once again, if you like coffee you will enjoy this brew. Very strong coffee taste mixed in with some chocolate, and roasted malts. Some bitter punch with hops, pine, and citrus. Heavily influenced by coffee.

M: Smooth mouthfeel and silky coating. Perfect carbonation level. Great aftertastes of coffee and roasted malt.

Was hoping for a big ol'foamy head that sits on top like a cappuccino, but this head is a small, silkier tan head that dissapates quickly down to a thin sheet. Very dark brown in color, much as coffee would be. The smell is creamy with a nice hint of coffeeovertop some dark roasted malts and a touch of milkiness. Nothing crazy, but pleasant.

The coffee tones come out beautifully in the flavor however. Big burst of bold dark roast coffee both in the front and then again in the back with a balanced middle of dark roasted malts that complements the coffee very well. A touch of earthier hops helps bring a nice bitter taste in the back as well, but doesn't interfere with the coffee. There is a nice fullness to the flavor without being overly thick in the mouthfeel. It still has a nice heft to it, but its smooth as can be without being overly creamy. The two major flavor combinations do very well together making for an excellent coffee stout, even if it isn't very complex. Its very drinkable and at 9% ABV, thats saying something. Good beer here, I definitely recommend if you like coffee stouts.

Lagunitas Cappucino Stout has a dark brown body that is opaque at its core but slightly translucent and ruby colored at its edges. The head is a solid slab of small brown bubbles and both the retention and lacing are good.

The aroma is of iced coffee, with hints of chocolate and roast thrown in.

Coffee is the strongest flavor in this one, but it isn't completely dominant. A hint of hops come through in the beginning, bringing both citrus and pine as well as bitterness. Roasted malt and hint of baker's chocolate come through as well. The coffee flavor itself is pretty good, avoiding any bitter or acrid flavors.

The mouthfeel is smooth and the carbonation is pretty active.

This is yet another Lagunitas beer that I have enjoyed. The brewery keeps earning more and more respect from despite the fact that I did not love the first offerings that I tried. The ABV in this one is hidden quite well.

Serving: Bomber into my arrogant bastard ale glass.

A: Pours very dark brown, not quite black, with a quarter inch of head. The head dissipated pretty quickly but it left some lacing on the glass. Not bad.

S: Dark malts, some chocolate, and coffee notes. Subtle but nice.

T: Dark roasted malts with a huge coffee backbone. A decent level of hop bitterness as well but nothing extreme. Slightly sweet on the finish, and very smooth. Very nice.

M: Solid mouthfeel.

O: Very good brew from Lagunitas. Their brews always seem to be great and this is no exception.
