A : pours a dark dark brown with slightly tan edges. A head that is off white and very thin. Dissipates quickly. Slight lacing.
S : smells very sweet. A bit of coffee and sweet beef marinade. A bit of off putting booze. Kind of weak
T : starts watery, then followed by a dark malty flavor. A beefy flavor of bittersweet dark chocolate, coffee and some odd flavored hops. There is a plastic like sweet flavor with the hops until the end. The flavor is a bit fruity and weird. As the beer warms the odd flavor is less overwhelming, but still there.
M : medium to light body. Smooth.

Too light in the body. Watery, not enough flavor. And then there's that end. Ugh, something went wrong. It's like drinking iodophor or something.

Reviewed from notes
A-Pours a very dark brown, not quite black with cherry hues. Not the darkest imperial stout for sure. Nice off-white head that leaves some lacing.

S-Sweet, chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruits, and caramel. It has a strong milk chocolate notes.

T-Milk chocolate, cream, cappuccino, dry roasted malts, and a hint of toffee. As it warms some caramel notes emerge.

M-A little thin for the style

D-Very drinkable as it tastes good and its abv. isn't too high for the style.

Overall, another very enjoyable beer from Lagunitas.

Served from a fresh bottle
Appearance is light for a stout, like a rootbeer, with a thin very light tan, nearly white, head

Smells of vanilla extract, coffee, cocoa

Tastes very sweet, and the alcohol was right up front for me, almost a chemical flavor; reminded again of vanilla extract , coffee comes through, malt and bitter dark chocolate

mouthfeel was thin for a stout, acidic not creamy..got a little better as it warmed up

Overall it was pretty good, has a high 9% abv and was easy to drink. Interesting flavors that you dont/wont get from non craft beers, but not a refined gem. This beer is cheap and worth a shot! Its not a favorite of mine but I have no regrets, I drank the entire thing so it couldn't have been that bad.

P: pour a very dark almost black, cola color with a very thin fizzy white head that lasts only around the ring.

S: toffe, coffee, brown sugar and malt

T: a sweet smokey coffee blast up front followed by a sweet brown sugar malt hit. and i dare say i taste a bit of cola.

M: plenty of carbonation, very fizzy just shy of pop, goes down super smooth and you are left with a lingering sweetness.

O: kinda on the sweet side and very much reminds me of soda, however it is still tasty and very drinkable. not bad.

Pours a super dark brown color with a sliver of a cocoa head. Head disappears quickly. Average lacing on the side of my snifter. The nose is a touch on the weak side for me. Coffee, malt, hops, and some chocolate are there- but not strong enough to get a higher score. The taste, fortunately, is a step up. Big malt, hops and chocolate on the first part, gradually turning into coffee and hops on the end of the taste. Nice creamer/hops aftertaste. I'd actually like the malt to have more presence on the back side for a slightly higher rating. The coffee isn't actually that present in the taste of this beer, and it actually works well. A lot of bad coffee stouts out there. Overall, this is a good beer that's worth trying if you like the style. I tend to like their hoppy beer a bit better, but this is a solid offering. Cheers.

Pours dark brown with a hint of red, with some light penetration. Big light mocha head quickly fizzles to leave no lacing.

Smell is of coffee, dark roasted malt, a hint of hops, and lots of booze.

Taste is of dark roasted coffee, bitter. A touch of the malt comes through with a nutty flavor.

Feel is a bit bubbly, and it bites, some from the hops, mostly from the booze. While it's thicker than it looks, it's still thinner than all the ISs I have tried to date.

It delivers on the cappuccino aspect, yet overall, not the best of stouts. A touch thin and bubbly, needs more sweetness to balance. The fact that light penetrates the brew makes me feel this shouldn't even be in the IS/DS category.
