A-Pours a clear almost red color, more of a deep dark orange color. Has a creamy ivory color medium sized head that has pretty good retention and very good lacing.

S-The aroma is first of resony bright citrus hops that seem almost piny. And of coarse the strong malt backbone has a sweet, toasty, caramel note. Very nice.

T-The flavor is much of the same along with a very clean bitterness that lingers on the tongue forever. The hops dominate but there is a sweet longlasting aftertaste of toasty caramel malts.

M-As the beer warms, the mouthfeel really gets a lot better than if it's poured just cold. It's a full bodied beer and very creamy, almost syrupy, but not cloying in the least because of the hop bitterness. Really a chewy beer indeed.

D-Given the 7.5 abv, I wouldn't qualify this as a sessionable beer, but it's a very nice sipper. I love this beer. Just DON'T drink it cold!!! Let it warm up a bit, and enjoy this wonderful sipper.

22 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Another new bomber to me from Lagunitas, my first encounter with one of their imperial red ales. Expectations are nice, since Lagunitas usually does great beers for a great price.

Poured into a Lagunitas mason jar.

A - It pours a nice dark coppery bronze colored body with about two fingers of creamy off-white froth.

S - The nose is comprised of smooth creamy sweet caramel / red malts. Some light trademark piney / resinous hop notes noticeable in the background. Herbal & earthy.

T - Remarkably well-balanced. Spicy bitter piney hop presence, grapefruit, stone fruits, and lots of bready red / caramel maltiness. Again, herbal and earthy. The hops are nice, but I think the malts are what makes this one a winner.

M - The feel is smooth & creamy. Sticky, bitter, resinous, and dry on the finish.

Overall, another quality bomber from Lagunitas. Very rarely have these guys let me down, especially when it comes to the bombers. Definitely recommended.

Lagunitas Imperial Red Ale ---4/5.

appearance- color is a clear amber, no visible carbonation within the beer, respectable, off white, creamy head.

smell- aroma is slightly sour, slight caramel

taste- malt character, hoppy crispness cutting through. very clean

mouthfeel; medium body, quite carbonated, crisp and then creaminess in the finish. nice contrast there.

aroma- definitely worth trying
