A. Poured into a pint glass with a amber red hue, head is good at first
then disappears to just a dusting on the top

S. Good roasted malt smell over a small piney hop fragrance, and the
slightest smell of the alcohol coming off this.

T. Much like the smell, strong malt taste upfront followed by a piney
and slightly citrus hop taste.

M. Smooth in mouth, bitter and leaves a slight dry taste in mouth.

D. Very good drinkable beer. Only problem is its slightly high in
alcohol and like I said very drinkable, may lead to waking up on a floor
saying what *^%$##@*.

22 oz bottle into a wine glass.

A: Pours a clear reddish copper color. There are about two fingers worth of off-white colored head, featuring a bubbly density that lasts a long time in the glass. The head seemingly sticks to the glass, creating almost a wall of lacing on its sides.

S: Compared to the last Lagunitas offering I had (Little Sumpin' Extra), this has less in the way of citrus and more in the way of pine, weed, and general dankness. Make no mistake, though, it smells exactly like I'd expect a beer from these guys would. Some caramel-laden malts poke through, thankfully staying in the background. It's even a bit savory at times.

T: It starts off with plenty of piny, dank flavors, without much of any flowery bitterness to finish it off. Rather, it's finished off with a sweet-yet-toasty malt backbone. Bitterness increases slightly after a few sips, but it's not what I'd call complex. Even if this isn't my favorite style, it's still a solid beer.

M: This definitely isn't some bone-dry IPA - the caramel malts give it a healthy sweetness which lingers throughout. In fact, the texture is even soft. Carbonation seems rather low, making it seem somewhat syrupy at times. It goes down nicely, it just doesn't go down very easily.

O: While it doesn't thrill me the way other hoppy Lagunitas beers do, that's more to do with big amber/red ales not really appealing to me instead of this not being a good beer. It definitely is good. Sure I'd rather drink Sucks, but this redhead would never be thrown out of bed for dropping a slice of pizza cheese-down on the duvet.

Really dug this one. The pour was dark red with a nice white head. The smell was a bit subdued but I was able to pick up on citrus and floral notes from the hops as well as a lot of sweet scents from the malt. The taste was great with a little burst of hops in the beginning and then a long smooth toasty flavor from the malt. Very tasty. I also liked the mouthfeel, a bit heavier than your average red but not overly thick. Would definitely recommend.

Served in a pint glass.

Appearance: The body itself is a pure red-amber color with medium bubbles to the body. White head that rose to maybe 1/2" off the body with the initial pour.

Smell: Light hops, honestly it best it smells your an above average pilsener. Not bad, but no where near greatness.

Taste: A little bitter but still smooth, has a slight sour feel to it that resembles citrus with a gulp-full of hops. Malts galore, but like I said...smooth.

Mouth: Medium bodied and slightly sticky. Has like a toasted feel to it, bit chewy.

Overall: Pretty good brew, honestly I have to put Lagunita's in my top three overall breweries. First time I have had this and not the last. Craving something to cool you off this summer, this might have been the best 5 bucks I spent. Salud!

The beer comes in a dark red color with a fluffy off white head.

The aroma has a similar character to Sumpin Extra, with that slight dank and pine in the back. Then there’s fruity hop notes of tart berries, some citrus, caramel sweetness and earthy pine.

The beer in the front is very earthy. Big piney and rich dark earthy flavor, almost like an American barleywine with huge spicy drying on the back. This is a very clean drinking beer, but it has some alcohol on the back. Hints of sweetness to counteract that bitterness, but not much body in the middle to interfere with the hops.

The finish is heavy bitterness with a bit of bready towards the end. This is for those who like American barleywines and oily resinous hops. And as the beer warms up, that sweetness comes through more to balance the beer out.

Not my favorite hop profile, but still constructed.

22 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Another new bomber to me from Lagunitas, my first encounter with one of their imperial red ales. Expectations are nice, since Lagunitas usually does great beers for a great price.

Poured into a Lagunitas mason jar.

A - It pours a nice dark coppery bronze colored body with about two fingers of creamy off-white froth.

S - The nose is comprised of smooth creamy sweet caramel / red malts. Some light trademark piney / resinous hop notes noticeable in the background. Herbal & earthy.

T - Remarkably well-balanced. Spicy bitter piney hop presence, grapefruit, stone fruits, and lots of bready red / caramel maltiness. Again, herbal and earthy. The hops are nice, but I think the malts are what makes this one a winner.

M - The feel is smooth & creamy. Sticky, bitter, resinous, and dry on the finish.

Overall, another quality bomber from Lagunitas. Very rarely have these guys let me down, especially when it comes to the bombers. Definitely recommended.
