Such a hard beer to review... to me this tastes a lot like a DIPA/Barleywine hybrid... like Arrogant Bastard, Devil Dancer, etc... It's delicious for sure and the fact that it only cost me about $1.50 a bottle certain adds a ton. Twelve oz bottle poured into my snifter.
A: Red/orange-ish brown with two finger very light tan color head. Lots and lots of lacing.
S: Grapefruit, blood orange, sweet malt... smells very similar to Lucky Bastard ale from Stone that I recently had.
T: Grapefruit, citrus, orange peel, brown sugar (duh), some booze. It's hoppy, but it's not bitter due to the sweet malt and sugar. This beer tastes quite awesome. I usually do not enjoy this "type" of beer... and by this "type", I mean, some of the beers mentioned above and as well as DFH 120 minute (although quite different)... but this beer is nice and sweet... and not overly boozy or overly hoppy. Very well balanced I would say.
M: Syrupy, chewy, and thick.
O: I like it. Not my favorite style, but this one works. I will be aging a couple of the six pack I got today to experiment - will report back a few months/years later ;)
