Auburn and completely clear in color when poured into the Duvel tulip. A light sandy colored fine bubbled head rises four fingers high and leaves some nice lacing as the beer vanishes. Medium-long head retention is also a welcome sight. Quite the looker.

Smell is mostly comprised of caramel earthy hops and a very light milk chocolate note. Not too much to talk about here, aroma wise this is pretty mild, odd given the style...

Taste is comprised of sweet malt, while some light hop flavors sit and poke and prod your taste buds slightly at varying points throughout the palate progression. Again, a bit one sided.

Mouthfeel has a bit too much carbonation towards the finish for my liking but the heat is masked exceptionally well almost to the point of being hazardous. Theres also a cooling mint/menthol feel that I haven't felt in any other beer other than Mikkeller's Monk's Brew, weird...

Overall this was a one sided meh, although it had personally hyped me with its appearance

Deep garnett in color with good clarity. Poured with a short, dense, off-white foam that quickly dissipated. Sweet malt, brown sugar, raisin and fig aromas with boozy notes in the background. Full bodied with tangy, assertive carbonation through the middle and a semi-dry finish. Sweet bready malt, dark fruit, fig and raisin flavors up front. Tangy, lightly spicy hop bitterness through the middle. Definitive booziness toward the end as well. Finished with a semi-dry feel and lingering bready malt and  herbal hop bitterness. This was excellent and, to me, drank a lot like an ale version of a doppelbock.

I wish this wast not a seasonal beer! I really like this beer! I think it is barrel age
or bootle conditioned, it is very smooth. I am really picky about beer. I live in Europe and
enjoy dark beer. I have to wait til next year to buy some more. classic winter beer.
