Served on-tap in a Bells tulip at Global Brew in O'Fallon, IL. Nice tap pour that presents a clear amber/red body with a small one-finger tan head that runs right up to the top of the glass. Light lacing. Looks very good.
Nice aroma of hops and sweet malt that blend together nicely. Citrus hop note, leaning toward grapefruit, and bready malt notes. Not overpowering but inviting.
Definitely like the flavor of this beer. Although it comes across a little sweeter than I would have expected from the aroma, it's not cloying. Tasty citric hop notes blend nicely with the sweet malt. Might be the best amber ale flavor I've ever had, probably due to the extra presence of the tasty hops.
Medium thickness in the mouthfeel with no notice of the alcohol. I enjoyed this very much and asked for a second serving. I've never seen this in bottles but will start looking for it now. Highly recommend.

Gotta love the label graphic - nicely done
Looks like this was bottled about April 23rd 2013, so it's got a lot of age on it now! Bought at the end of last September and mistakenly aged. That might explain why it came across as more of an ESB than an American amber.
Poured from the 22 oz. bomber into a Samuel Adams nonick.
a: Nearly clear dark amber/copper with an inch plus offwhite head which receded to rocky surface foam and dense lacing.
s: Mild caramel malt.
t; First impression is its pleasing silky smoothness, followed by a nice caramel malt and hops balance. Sweet to dry finish. Its 8.65% ABV is well concealed.
m: Medium, silky smooth.
o: A very enjoyable and satisfying ESB-style ale, highly sippable and savory in texture and overall taste. I'd buy this again anytime of year. However I'll need to try a much fresher bottle to confirm this.
Serving type: growler
