Poured from 22oz bomber into a pint glass.

Appearance: nice amber-brown hue with a bit of haze and a finger of pillowy ivory foam. It looks pretty good.

Smell: huge maltiness with earthy, citrusy hops sitting atop. It's got that strong ale vibe going on that Lagunitas does so well.

Taste: giant maltiness with a rough, stinging hop character that fades into a bizzarely fruity flavor. This is a big ass beer which deploys an excellently dynamic flavor. What is it with these guys and their strong ales? Like Stone, they simply deliver. Great stuff (though, as mentioned, this is more of a strong ale than an amber/red ale).

Mouthfeel: big ass body plus a decent carbonation yields big ass creaminess. This is actually along the lines of a great Belgian. I am surprised and impressed by this offering.

Drinkability: hugely drinkable, given the ABV. The flavors are strong and intense, yet this beer manages to not completely overwhelm the palate. If I thought I could survive drinking this as a session beer, I would.

A: orange-red. Thin head. Clear. No lacing.
S: citrus and floral
T: citrus. Candy/bubblegum. Small alcohol notes. Basic mealtimes.
M: fizzy. Malty.
O: tasty. Big beer that is well balanced. Big hop flavor up front. Slightly bitter. Easy drinking for how big it is.

One of the best examples of a red ale you will find. A round, pungent blast of super strength. You cannot go wrong. Lagunitas cares, you should as well.
Get a hold of any of their beers, except for the PILS, which I think is a wasted effort. Also, try not to drink too much, as in the brewery in general. It will wash your palate away, and you'll be hunting for a great stout or porter to revive your palate. You will know. Thanks Lagunitas, you guys make great brews!

Mondo Lagunitas, Mondo

Poured into pint glass

A: Gorgeous red, like a red head in color

S: Not sure what I'm detecting here . . . Pleasant none the less

T: Very nice, yummy red ale. Reminds me of Hairy Eyeball but not as hoppy

M: Solid feel, Full bodied, prickly, good carbination

O: Not a wow beer for me but very yummy. This would be good in the fall and spring (might be a spring seasonal not sure though) Seen that this was a Lagunitas beer so I hadto try . . . Lagunitas has become a brewery that I have to try everything I see.
