A - Slightly more than two fingers worth of light khaki colored head that is a bit airy and uniformly packed with a bit of a dimpled top and a couple of stray big chunky bubbles mixed in... Rock solid retention... The color is a blend of rich amber and light bronze... There is a distinct reddish hue lingering beneath the surface that provides a nice lively glow... A few streaks of moderately paced carbonation... A good bit of sticky lacing clings to the sides of the glass...
S - A powerful, unique, assertive nose right off the bat... Mentholyptus... Pine... Candied sugars... Pineapple... A hint of caramel... Light brown sugar... A slight medicinal component... Perhaps even some light floral notes...
T - The nose was a wonderful predictor of what materialized on the palate... Piney to start... Undertones of the mentholyptus... A bit of citrus goodness... Caramel... Toffee... Brown sugar... A kiss of floral notes...
M - On the fuller side of medium bodied... Clean and crisp... Slightly sticky... Rich... Pungent... Lightly carbonated... Even and consistent...
D -A rather unique American Amber / Red Ale... The 77 IBU seems a bit understated as this one is packed with pungent bitterness... The mentholyptus notes I pick up several facets are a wee bit off putting, but also add a rather unique character... An interesting brew worth exploring, but not something I will revisit regularity...

I generally don't like red ales. This is an exception, by far, for me.
Beautiful pour from the bottle. Ruby mahogany color, slow moving carbonation, a little hazy. Creamy head that dissipates to a couple of millimeters slowly, but that lace will stay there forever.
The nose is one of the most inviting I've encountered in a while. Malty and bread, creamy yet crisp and herbal as well. Plum and raisin, a whole lot. Sweet burnt malt and alcohol. Give me some!
Taste is sweet and fruity at the beginning, like toasted raisin bread and malty granola. The hops really only kick in at the finish, as does the alcohol, but both combine for a bitter and clean aftertaste.
Good, real good.
