22oz Bottle dated 115, so about a month old at sampling. Served in a snifter.
A: Dark orange and copper with 1 finger off white head. Good retention and moderate to high lacing. Head is really soapy looking.
S: Smells a little grassy with lots of tropical fruit. Pineapple and peach are the most prominent. I'm guessing this beer was dry hopped with a bunch of different hop varieties including Amarillo and Cascade. Nice, but not on par with some of the Pliny's of the world.
T: Tastes just like a bitter fruit salad. A touch of bitterness up front, followed by pineapple, grapefruit, apple, pear and apricot, then finishes with strong bitterness and a slight drying sensation. A little warmth from the alcohol, but it's well hidden. Very sweet, but not overly malty like others in the genre.
M: A little thin at times, but solid for the style. A little creamy, but low carbonation.
O: A great double IPA that brings tons of sweetness without tasting like a malt sandwich. I usually prefer dry IPA's, but this one fits the bill without being dry at all because the malt doesn't overpower the hoppy goodness.
