Rated this beer a while back, but I bought it from a store in ohio that I don't think gets much craft buyer business so I would expect from the taste that it wasn't fresh. Giving it another shot, bought at Little's Wine and Liqour in Denver, CO. Employee claims that get reshipments of this beer every few weeks so, so I'm guessing its pretty fresh.
Poured into a snifter and paired with honey roasted peanuts. Rated while watching history of violence.
A&S: off the bat a ton of citrus and piney hops but mostly citrus. As it warms lots of skunky/dank aromas come through. Lots of unfiltered elements to this beer, however it remains a transparent and lively orange colored beer with tints of red. Fluffy off-white head has pretty good retention (remaining at a thin layer) and leaving various shapes of lacing on the glass.
T&M: Unlike the aroma, not as many distinguishing characteristic. The thing that stands out the most to me is tropical hops complemented by subdued spiciness and piny hops. Taste wasn't nearly as intense as I expected. Well-hidden ABV. Not incredibly bitter in the finish.
Overall: This beer reminds me the most of pliny (pliny still beats it, but this beer is still fantastic). I'm very glad I retried this beer because it is great! It is also one if not the best priced DIPAs I've come a crossed (bought this one for a little over 5 bucks after tax). This brewery has to be in my top 10 favorites, year in and year out they put out high quality brews.

The 22 ounce bomber just seemed to call out to me at Liquor Barn - how can you go wrong with "Hop Stoopid". Turns out I didn't. Enjoyed this with an Italian meal. The hop aroma with the mix or citrus and pine was almost overwhelming and the flavor profile didn't let me down. Although the label claims 102 IBU, the sweet malt backbone still comes through with a very nice balance between the hop and malt. This stood up quite well to spicy Italian food but I think it would be good with just about anything.
Overall this is just a very nice Imperial IPA that I will purchase again.
