Clean this mess up or else we'll all end up in jail...those test tubes and the scale...just get 'em all outta here..." He was referring to the complex super-critical-CO2 hop extraction equipment set up on the table in the lab across from the brewhouse. Hop extracts are for the BIG brewers, he thought - suitable only for crummy sub-standard and barely-passable industrial lagers, not the subtle and elegant craft beer made here. But wrong he was. The New Brewer does not eschew any possible inputs. In this case the mountain of extracts will replace the mountain of hop vegetative material in the kettle thus creating cleaner hop flavors and preventing the otherwise spinach-like mess of a kettle full of super-hopped wort from clogging up a pump or worse. The sensuous honey-like amber ooze was administered intravenously to the wort kettle and the sacrament was complete. Another kettle of Hop Stoopid is once again raised up and fermented on high.

A - One and a half fingers of bone white foam, settles slowly and leaves thick, sticky lace. The body is a golden-copper color and perfectly clear.
S - A strong, pineapple and grapefruit hop aroma. Definite malt backbone, with some light caramel and toast.
T - Sweet and hoppy up front with lots of pine and grapefruit flavor. The pine flavor takes over in the middle along with some toasted malt notes. The hops darken in the finish with some tobacco like notes and moderate bitterness that gets just a little bit soapy.
M - Medium-thick body, moderate carbonation, and a slightly sweet finish.
D - This is certainly one of the better DIPAs I have had. The hop aroma is very nice with all of the right notes. The flavor is balanced to favor hop character over bitterness, which is as it should be. The downside is that the flavor is almost cloyingly sweet and the extreme fruitiness of the hops exacerbates this characteristic. The somewhat soapy bitterness also hurts drinkability. In the end, this is a very nice DIPA, but for my money, Hopslam is still king.

Lagunitas is stupid. This beer is disgusting and really sucks for how popular it is.

I wasn’t an IPA fan until a trip to California a few years ago. One of the best memories was a 22oz of the Hop Stoopid.
This batch (6 pack in Ohio) tastes nice and fresh. With this offering from Lagunitas, I actually like the smell better than the taste. There is a delightful pineapple scent.
This is a a tasty IPA that doesn’t disappoint!

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Julian date of 0238, so appears to have been bottled in August of 2020. Quote a bit older than preferred, but here goes ..
Looks fantastic in the glass. Clear deep golden yellow body. Bright foamy white head persists in very good form throughout, leaving excellent lacing.
There is an aroma, pleasant, but hard to describe.
On tasting, it's strong, quite sweet, and although the hops have faded, there is still a hint of clean bitterness. The abv is apparent.
Mouth close to full, finish bittersweet.
Overall, at this age, still a decent drink. Will re-review if I find one fresh off the line and it's significantly different.
