A: Pours a nice copper color with a half-finger's worth of head

S: Some nice pungent spicy and fruity hops with light crackery malts. Not too much else going on

T: Follows the nose, with pretty much anything you could want out of hops. Fruity, floral, piney, citrusy... Some crackery malts try to hold up the hops, but this is definitely a beer made for the hops. Bitterness isn't too bad until the finish, where it lingers on and on. Alcohol is pretty much a non-player in the taste

M: Medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation. Certainly on the lighter side for DIPAs, as the resins don't seem to stick around too much (no pun intended)

O: Where the nose lacks complexity, the taste makes up for it with the huge hop flavor. The bitterness isn't actually too bad, especially for registering at 102 IBUs. Plus, at $5.49 a bomber, this is a steal for a solid DIPA

Poured into a tulip. The color is light golden. There is a nice fluffy white head. Good retention.

The aroma has a lot of pineapple. There are some piney hops in there as well but they aren't quite as prominent. There is just enough honey sweetness in the aroma to emphasize the hops.

The taste is full of peppery, spicy, piney hop character. There is just a bit of malt sweetness in the middle, but this is incredibly bitter on the finish. This definitely satisfies my hop cravings. Awesome stuff.

This is medium bodied with nice full lively carbonation. This is a delicious bitter astringent bomb for those of us into that. Yum.

Appearance: Dark gold. Clear. Head is fluffy, loose, and creamy. White. Decent retention. Some sheets of lacing. Lively carbonation.

Smell: Citrus, resin, pithy bitterness. Bready malts with a touch of roasted sweetness. Grapefruit and a touch of tangerine. Lingering sweetness. Very bready. Biscuit dough. Touch of raw honey? Loaded with grapefruit flesh. Almost ruby red. Mild earthiness.

Taste: Grapefruit. Oily hops. Slight pithiness. Malt sweetness pushes some caramel malts. Biscuit dough and cracker. Mild roasted compliment. Some pine resin. Tangerine and orange in good measure. Rising bitterness. Malts help keep it in check. Slightly cooked grain flavor. Some raw edges.

Mouthfeel: Moderate body with a higher than expected carbonation. Slick and a touch oily, with a creamy finish.

Overall: Decent, but that's as far as it goes. Nice and easy to drink, but Sucks broke the bar for these guys.

I've tried this beer at least half a dozen times in various states of freshness. The best bottle I have had was an extra from a CA trading partner. That was a mind-blowing beer. Everything we get here on the East coast lacks that blast of hop deliciousness I got from the West coast bottle. And before you ask, I got the bottle, shook my head, and thought, "Well, I know I'm not a huge fan of this, might as well chill it and drink it tonight." I was so wrong.

Poured from a 22-oz bottle into my typical beer glass. This one has a golden, almost pilsner quality with a nice white head and good lacing for an imperial. Great smell with lots of floral and pine. The real strength of this beer is the flavor--great hopiness!!! Not only that, but there's a solid malty sweetness. This is probably the most balanced imp IPA I've had in awhile...highly recommend!

Lagunitas - Hop Stoopid

Aroma:  Massive pine and citrus aroma.  A touch of malt sweetness in the mix.

Appearance:  Golden amber color.  Bright filtered beer.  One finger of head with good lacing.

Flavor:  Pine and citrus hops to start, sweet and bitter in the middle, finishes fairly sweet with a lingering bitterness.  Little to no alcohol present.  Slight astringency as the beer warms.

Mouthfeel:   Medium body with some syrup characteristics.  Good carbonation.

Overall:  Finely crafted, well balanced hop bomb from Lagunitas.  If you are an IPA lover, this beer will satisfy.  The reasonable price will satisfy as well.  Excellent IPA that I will seek out in the future.  Recommended.
