Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a Lagunitas mason jar pint glass. Purchased in Wyoming, RI.

A- Pours a slightly hazy, golden orange body with a thick 2" head and some uniform white lacing.

S- Pine, bready malt, grapefruit, and citrus.

T- Piney, resinous, and floral notes sitting on a pretty heavy sweet caramel malt backbone. I also get a peculiar smokeyness in there somewhere. Leaves a slight bitterness on the tongue.

M- Medium body, low carbonation.

My experience with this beer matched all the good things I've heard about it. Definitely above average for an IPA, and I'm not surprised coming from lagunitas. This one is more malty/piney and less light and tropical. Must try for all hop heads.

Served via bomber at The Crow's Nest in Johnstown, PA.

A: pale orange. Minimal head and lacing. Nice depth of color. Not quite crystal clear.

S: malty yet floral. Slight sweetness to go with a bready aroma. Very reminiscent of Great Divide pale ales.

T: immediate hops, but smooth. Not as overpowering as the 102 ibu would suggest. Malty backbone that finishes crisply. The tongue is left with a slight sweet after taste combined with a hoppy citrus note. Very balanced overall. Possible clove taste associated with a slight alcohol but. Pleasant.

M: solid, but not too thick. A medium bodied beer if there ever was one. Slightly sticky.

Overall: while the 102 ibu is intriguing, the fact that they use hop extract may decrease the hop bitterness. A beautiful beer. So balanced. A bomber may be the ideal serving size, as the profile changes as it warms up. Great beer

Poured from a big bottle (1 pt, 6 fluid oz) into a pint glass. Didn't touch it until it sat at room temperature for a little bit . Tremendous beer!

Appearance - Translucent, orange-color, beautiful; very nice 3-finger head (at least) after pour. Head sustained itself for quite some time with nice lacing around the glass throughout. Good looking beer...

Smell - Orange, grapefruit; generally fruity-smell; tangerine-like; I can smell the hops.

Taste - Tremendous; a hops mouth-assault initially which calms down after a few sips or so. Perfectly balanced hops and fruit taste.

Mouthfeel - Very manageable considering this beer is 102 International Bitterness Units (IBUs). Either I am getting more and more comfortable with hoppy beers or this hop-stoopid beer is hoppy yet smooth! Bitter and piney but not too overwhelming.

Overall - Incredible beer. I've been reading about Lagunitas beers for some time now and I can now confirm that this brewing company is the real deal. I will seek this beer out again. Not too hoppy (I don't really consider myself a hop-head) but an impressive blend of hoppiness with refreshing fruit taste. Great beer!
