A- Big piney hops. Virtually no citrus.

A- light amber. scant head. Light haze.

F- Big time pine hop flavor. Lots of upfront bitterness, but not really harsh. Balance with malt doesn't even enter into the equation.

M- Not heavy at all. Average carbonation.

O- Nice DIPA. I actually look forward to this beer. Yes it's crazy bitter, but the lack of harshness and interesting pine resiny character makes it more that just a bitter beer. The light body and distinct lack of sweet maltiness helps make this more drinkable.

Poured into an Oversized Wine Glass

Appearance - Very clear & filtered bright orange with a little carbonation. Lacing retention is decent.

Smell - Pungent Piney Hops with some grapefruit notes and maltiness to it.

Taste - Piney Hops upfront with a real kick to them, almost like a Wet Hop IPA. There's also citrusy and malty flavors in here as well. Aftertaste is a bitter resin and piney flavor. Very flavorful for an Imperial IPA, even if it is not complex in flavor.

Mouthfeel - Light-bodied with some moderate carbonation that adds some bite to the flavor. It's also got a very crisp/refreshing feel to it so it makes the overall drinking experience better than it already is.

Overall - Simple in flavor, despite the (very) hoppy kick it provides. With it's awesome flavor and crisp feel on the palate, this is another fine offering by Lagunitas and another great Imperial IPA for hopheads to try out!

A- clear tangerine amber attractiveness. The cream colored cap of foam isnt phenomenal and it doesn't scream hoppiness, but its tightly bubbled surface wrinkles up some as it settles and the lacing is noteworthy.

S- Pungent citrus aroma of mandarin and grapefruit with pineapple and passion fruit and a soft cookie sweetness.

T- nice balance of sweet to bitter with a sort of herbal minty coconut cucumber coolness. This one isn't overwhelmingly hoppy and could probably pass for a plain old west side IPA. Grapefruit and orange peel, mango, lime, and pineapple. Malt sweetness is kinda just "there" and lacks any sort of complexity. Finishes with persistent bitterness but again, nothing too extreme.

MF- very juicy body with carbonation on the mild side. Not much resinous or alpha acid feel but sufficient dryness to ask for another sip.

D- its lack of super extremeness makes it a more drinkable brew and the 8% abv packs only a mild punch. The 102 ibu boasted on the label is balanced out by the sweetness and though it is indeed a tasty combination of hops, perhaps hop stoopid is a deceiving name.

Appearance - Pours a semi-clear, beautiful amber with a 2 finger width white head. The head takes a few minutes to die down, but leaves behind a resilient, sticky lace.

Smell - Big citrus hops, backed with a faint pine hop aroma.

Taste - Pine hops and a bit of grapefruit to start , then a big orange peel-like bitter hop comes in and dominates in through the aftertaste. There's some sweet malt notes playing off somewhere in the distance, but they don't detract from what this beer is all about.

Mouthfeel - Medium body, wonderfully carbonated. Despite it's bitterness, easy to swallow. Crisp, and fairly clean.

Overall - A well made 2IPA. Don't let the 102 IBU's fool you, for the style it's quite drinkable. Certainly one I'd buy again.

On-tap at Flanny's in Tempe, AZ.

A: Golden-orange in color. Good lace.

S: Heavy hops. A little funky and earthy. Got the same kinda thing from the bottle a while ago.

T: Huge West Coast hops but they taste a bit old and funky. I think this beer just doesn't do it for me. Might be too hopped for its own good.

M: Can be cloying. Dry but smooth and easy drinking for the style. A bit of booze comes through.

O: I wanna like this beer because of the name and rating but it's just not gonna happen. I probably won't try it again unless I'm at the brewery.
