A: more yellow than orange, not great head retention or lacing

S: sweet grassy piney hops, smells awesome, 5.0+

T: Surprisingly smooth for an 8% DIPA, plenty of hops with a sweet barley tang, finishes citrus and alcohol.

M: well carbonated, soft

O: Very good beer. I'm always pleasantly surprised with the smoothness in most Lagunitas IPAs. Not really hop stoopid, More like hop struggling with 9th grade algebra.

This is a very good beer! for those of you who have never tried Pliny the Elder this beer is for you. Very close to Pliny but of course falls short of the Legend of Pliny with some after taste and less pronounced aroma and flavor.

Citrus and pine aroma this beer is a fantastic beer. Easily available in the tri-state area Hop Stoopid stands tall.

A great every day beer, hides the alcohol well and tastes great.

Bottom line: grab some they are worth it!

22 oz bottle served in a Highland Brewing pint glass.

Pours a hazy orange-amber with a moderate size near white head. The head is rather sudsy, has good retention, and leaves plenty of sticky lacing.

First encounter with this one (I think). I braced myself for an extreme and challenging beer that earned the title Hop Stoopid and lists an IBU of 102. The aroma promises plenty of hops, in a complex combination that produces citrus, apricot, floral, evergreen and herbal notes, with the citrus dominant. Hoppy but there's nothing really foreboding about the delightful hoppy aroma. Seems as great as possible for style, and great regardless of beverage.

Taste?: No question; there are plenty of hops here, but there's also a significant contribution from some sweet toasted grains that cut the bitterness back a good bit. The result is still a strong and very hoppy beer, but not what I'd call challenging. Long lasting, and tasty aftertaste from the hops. The complex mix of hops adds interest to what can be a one-dimensional style. In addition, the malt is evident in the background. Approaches 4.5

M: The high IBU and 8% ABV contribute to a bit of harshness on the tongue, but considering these, the beer is relatively smooth. Medium carbonation.

O: excellent example of DIPA style.

Bomber to Mini Boot, don't ask.

A: Golden/Light Orange, like two inches of head, probably because of the impractical glassware I chose. However, the carbonation looks awesome going up the toes to the laces, and is rather plentiful throughout... As is the lacing.

S: Mostly floral and piney hops, with a hint of orange.

T/M: Taste is initally much of the same, but finishes with a grapefruit flavor and a bit of alcohol

O: Well, now that the boot is starting to really piss me off, it's time for the overall opinion, Double IPAs are my favorite style of beer, and this isn't really living up to my standards, it fits the 8% into a generally acceptable (single) IPA flavor quite well, as in it has hardly the amount of tongue wrenching tenacity that Sierra Nevada Torpedo has (7.2%) that many may find unpleasant. Not me.
