Got it on tap locally at Beff's from a brand new keg they'd just tapped yesterday afternoon. . . .

A: Cloudy reddish-coppery in color with a 1-inch, bubbly off-white head that settled somewhat slowly to leave rings on the way down.

S: Some caramel malt but mainly citrusy hops and a bit of spice. I thought the beer was a tad bit too cold for my sniffing pleasure, which may have deadened the nose a little -- and I drank it too quickly for it to warm up.

T: A nice balance of caramel malt up front with citrusy, florally hops providing some flavor towards the back of the sip, which is then followed by a dry, slightly piney hop aftertaste. I swear I can taste three different hop-type flavors in this, and yet the hops are not at all over-the-top but rather take their appropriate place at the back of the mouth and in the aftertaste after the malt has provided some weight at the front of the sip. Well done.

M: Moderate in feel, pretty well carbonated but not too much so.

D: Highly drinkable. This one went down very quickly.

Notes: Not sure about the ABV on this one. I didn't notice any alcohol, yet I see from some other reviews that this is listed as 7.7%. On the other hand, BA lists it above as 5.9%. Regardless, it's a pretty flavorful beer and is very drinkable. Definitely recommended.

As the label proclaims this has a rich copper hue and a stiff thick head of off white foam. There's a large number of carbonation bubbles that course through the body that weakens the appearance.

The nose is a malt bomb. Molasses, maple, tea leaves, even prune, date and raisin all come to the surface.

The flavor reminds me of figs, with sorghum and caramel malt. I get a bit of molasses and maple with a back of pecans.

The feel is quite thick, very smooth with a bitter after taste.

Very unorthodox in its approach this copper ale is nicely diverse and quite flavorful.

Poured into BarrelHouse Brewing pint glass

A: As promised it pours a coppery amber. A little agitation produces a bit of head that fades quickly.

S: I get toasty malty sweetness, floral hops, and what I could swear was a little almost Belgian yeast like funk.

T: Very malt forward which given the source caught me off guard. Earthy with some caramel malty sweetness, a little floral and resin hop bitterness on the finish.

M: Medium body with medium carbonation

O: Drinks almost like a brown ale. Probably not my favorite from Lagunitas, but not bad.

Poured from a bottle into a Pilsner glass.

A: Like the label says, a rich copper color. Very little light passes through. Pours about a finger and half of of white head that dissipates slowly. Lacing is medium but beautiful top to bottom. In short, my version of near perfect presentation.

S: Roasted malts up front with a floral presence following. Inviting, but nothing over the top. That said, it has a decent, balanced nose.

T: This is where it really delivers. Malts up front, light hops in the finish, light floral throughout. Again, well balanced. A wonderful representation of a red ale.

M: Medium body here. Light carbonation. A little less that I would expect, but no real disappointment.

O: Considering that the original name for this ale was the "Kronick", and that it truly delivers on the rest of the label, this gets a big thumbs up for living up to the hype. Likely to be one of my favorite regulars to stock in the fridge. Truly enjoyable in the style.
