poured from a 12oz into an indian wells brewing co pint glass. They named it right, it's 100% copper in body color with a light tan sandy colored head which dissipates evenly, slowly, and leaves a nice layer on top throughout the tasting.

The scent is of a light bread and caramel/brown sugar sweetness. Not too much hop in the nose, mostly that sweeter malty smell, but it does have a small amount of spicing in there lightening it somewhat.

The flavor of this beer is great, it's got a great malty sweetness to it, almost like a brown ale. But at the same time you are hit with a subtle fall spiciness, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. If I had to draw a corellary directly to a food i've had this brew is seriously a maple brown sugar muffin.

The mouthfeel is very smooth and creamy, the malt thickens it and backs the sweet taste with a solid bready feel but it's not too thick beacuse of those spices lightening it on the palate. Very little carbonation enhances the effect of the spices and the flavors as well.

Very drinkable, a great amber ale to be sure and another excellent offering from Lagunitas.

Pours a golden, clear amber with nice lacing rings on the glass. Smells are sweet, caramel malts, some fruit from the hops in this brew. Tastes balanced. Nice malt/hop ratio. Biscuity and sweet with just enough hop profile. Mouthfeel is also balanced with some carbonation and fullness. Overall, a pretty decent brew. I would buy it again although there are a few other Lagunitas brews I prefer over this one. Cheers.

A: Deep amber. Even bronze-like. Thin off-white head. Not too much lacing.

S: Very bready and earthy. Mineraly. When cold, you smell the hops more, but as it warms, it brings out the more malty and earthy tones.

T: Less hops than I expected. Quite peaty at first and goes to the dark bready and malt flavors. Slighty abrasive, but in a good way.

M: Medium to light bodied. Light carbonation. Not too bad. Not to heavy on the stomach.

O: Not too bad. A decent offering from my favorite brewery. It's nice to know that they can make something that's not bombarded by hops. Personally, it strongly reminds me of a scotch ale because of the very earthy and peaty tones. For one of my first copper ales, I like it. Definitely recommended.
