App - Rich amber color, brilliantly clear. Medium sized off-white head, creamy and with mediocre retention.

Smell - Caramel maltiness dominates, little to no hop aroma. Pretty clean.

Flav - Malty sweet, caramel. Had some initial feelings that it was overly sweet, but felt more balanced as worked through the bottle. Finishes fairly neutral - not dry, and very slightly bitter.

MF - medium body, low-medium carbonation. No astringency, some gentle alcohol warming.

D'ability - Clean and balanced, with some prominent malt flavors. Felt a bit like an ale version of a doppelbock to me.

Pours a golden, clear amber with nice lacing rings on the glass. Smells are sweet, caramel malts, some fruit from the hops in this brew. Tastes balanced. Nice malt/hop ratio. Biscuity and sweet with just enough hop profile. Mouthfeel is also balanced with some carbonation and fullness. Overall, a pretty decent brew. I would buy it again although there are a few other Lagunitas brews I prefer over this one. Cheers.

A: Deep amber. Even bronze-like. Thin off-white head. Not too much lacing.

S: Very bready and earthy. Mineraly. When cold, you smell the hops more, but as it warms, it brings out the more malty and earthy tones.

T: Less hops than I expected. Quite peaty at first and goes to the dark bready and malt flavors. Slighty abrasive, but in a good way.

M: Medium to light bodied. Light carbonation. Not too bad. Not to heavy on the stomach.

O: Not too bad. A decent offering from my favorite brewery. It's nice to know that they can make something that's not bombarded by hops. Personally, it strongly reminds me of a scotch ale because of the very earthy and peaty tones. For one of my first copper ales, I like it. Definitely recommended.
