Tapped into a tulip. Was told by the bartender (apparently incorrectly) that this was an American Strong Ale.

Appearance - One finger offwhtie head with decent retention and low to medium stick. Medium amber brown clear body.

Smell - Strawberry maltiness. Grassy hop. Mild to moderate body. No alcohol presence.

Mouthfeel - Chewy. Slight alcoholic bite and moderate but balanced astringency.

Overall Drinkability - One of the most balanced and drinkable American Strong Ales I've had [ED: apparently wasn't an ASA]

From the 12 fl. oz bottle. Sampled on April 19, 2014.

The pour is amber-copper with a robust cream colored head that never really fades entirely. Great clarity.

On the nose I am getting a pleasant atmosphere of butterscotch and floral hops but the hops tends to take over rather quickly.

The body is in the medium to full range but also creamy.

The taste begins with a delightful toasted biscuit malt character but then the earthy hops really kick in and take everything over to result in a dry finish. Nice beer that is worth a try.

I know I had this one before, but this is really exceptional. I must have been too bowled over the other time to review it.

Is a darker aipa, with good lacing. The aroma is strong, as it should be for the style. Hoppy.

The taste is over the top Hoppy and malty. Thick. The aftertaste is hops, and hops is all over your burp breath. Its only drawback is that it is too good and strong. A great problem to have.

This is a huge beer and a great value. Another killer brew from Lagunitas.

They keep doing it, I have reviewed a few now by this brewery. At first I had a few that I was not impressed at all about, but the more I keep trying them lately it was me or I was getting older batches, something. Maybe I should revisit them. Although, I have found that breweries that do great ales and IPA's don't make the best lagers or pilsner's. The one I hit hard was the Pils, anyway, to this one, it was amazing. The hops was there, for sure, but it was so well balanced. It was in the same line as the Sucks, of which I have one or two left, so I may do a comparison. Anyway, the color was nice reddish brown and the aroma was magnificent. So far this is my favorite Cali brewery for sure, I need to revisit Stone, as I have been hearing a lot about the Enjoy by series, anyway, this one is awesome, not much to complain about here. Just go find some!

One of the best tasting beers ever. it starts of with a very alluring aroma that draws you in with its sweet note of citrus and barley.

It then takes you on a ride with its smooth malt flavor That only hints at the high ABV that it contains. This a ALE not to be mistaken for your average run of the mill beer.

A - 4.5 - Great golden amber clear beer with a nice big white frothy head that never seems to fade
s - 4.25 - Sweet caramel malt, floral/grapefruit/pine hops, brown sugar. Great smelling beer
T - 4.25 - Sweet caramel and bready malt, floral, grapefruit, pine hop flavor. Very sweet.
M - 4.5 - Alc completely covered. Sweet balanced out by hop bitterness. Aftertaste is bready malt and floral hops.
O - 4.5 - Great strong ale. I like it better than the big name american barley wines like Sierra Nevada Bigfoot because it's a little bit easier drinking. At 9.7% it's not that much weaker either.
