Tapped into a tulip. Was told by the bartender (apparently incorrectly) that this was an American Strong Ale.

Appearance - One finger offwhtie head with decent retention and low to medium stick. Medium amber brown clear body.

Smell - Strawberry maltiness. Grassy hop. Mild to moderate body. No alcohol presence.

Mouthfeel - Chewy. Slight alcoholic bite and moderate but balanced astringency.

Overall Drinkability - One of the most balanced and drinkable American Strong Ales I've had [ED: apparently wasn't an ASA]

Another big malt wonder from Lagunitas. Style? we don't need no stinking style. Warm amber color, lots of champagne bubbles in the chalice. Hops galore. Nose of sweet vermouth, leather. Really hot. Long rich malt flavor is the structure with the zingy hops and spicy hops on top. A favorite late night sipping beer for a long time.

This 12 oz must be a couple years old. I remember it was even better, but time to finish off the last one. Reading the label, not making this up, it says Alc. 9.87 by vol.

Poured from: 12 oz bottle into a globe glass

Appearance: golden brown with a fatty fingers worth of head which was nice and cream colored.

Aroma: smelled sweet with a fruity hop aroma that was almost floral.

Taste: well balanced as far as the malt and hop bitterness that the brew was meant to remember for their shutdown for a silly little sin as some say.

Mouthful: sweeter than the smell suggests and a extremely light presence of alcohol considering the content.

Overall: good beer wish it was a year round staple, but that might just be reason it's so good and be one of my favorites from Lagunitas.

Poured out of a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.

A – Deep golden brown on pour with about one finger of fluffy off white head that is pretty damn sticky with lacing.

S – Earthy, piney and citrusy. Sweetness in the nose.

T – Has a nice hop bite to start. Citrus tastes next. Malt sweetness at the back end. Definitely feel a nice alcohol burn at the finish.

M – Medium to full bodied. Solid carbonation. Creamy.

O - Solid brew with a wild swing from hops to malt sweet. Liked it but did not love it.

A- Caramel colored with two fingers worth of white, fluffy head.

S- Syrupy sweet, fruity, and piney. Brings to mind cocktail fruit.

T- Rich drank fruit with hints of tropical brightness. The focus is more on the fruitiness of the hops instead of the bitterness.

M- Surprisingly rich and full bodied. Not as bright as I expected. Crisp carbonation, and alcohol blends, while a subtle burn in the back of the throat lets you know the alcohol is there.

O- A very delicious beer, that was much darker than I thought, but in a good way. Definitely worth a try.

My Bottle says Limited Release so perhaps theyll make it a seasonal release.

Didn't taste as strong as the ABV would suggest. Went down cold & smooth. Two finger head which is what I look for and the head stayed for a while.

Another selection that I bought one bottle of in my Make Your Own 6 Pack emporium. Will definitely pick up a few more next time

Delicious Brew for sure. Strong floral hop bouquet. I am drinking this along with the Hairy Eyeballs, and in comparison it is slightly less malty and slightly more hoppy. Both have a remarkably smooth and drinkable quality, yet an abundance of flavor. Nice goin Lagunitas.

Bottle to Tulip
12oz

App- Very amber brown with a two finger head. Dots of cling and thats about it.

Smell- Similar to a lot of beers lately. Big malt profile with a damp citrus. A bit one sided.

Taste- Again one sided with the malt taking over. Damp citrus takes a back seat. Its okay but as excited as everyone gets this seems run of the mill.

Mouth- Medium bodied and medium carbonated. A bit thick but pretty good.

Drink- Well its okay but could better. Hype train is big on this one. Glad I got a 12 oz but would be very dissapointed in a 22 oz.

smells super hoppy. Pours darker amber light white head. This one has a huge hop flavor and some really sweet flavors too. A bit tart, but the tartness compliments it quite well. I have to say that I was drawn to this one by its name but I did really like it.

I had this tonight on tap at my local establishment. Appeared dark in color. The aroma was not over powering or memorable. Had a deep taste, one that I will not forget. It tasted to me like this was brewed with red apple peels. However, it did not taste like a cider beer. Overall, I was happy to try it. But there are a hundred other beers I would rather drink. Glad I tried it, but not for me necessarily.

Poured a clear deep amber with a half of a finger white head that faded slowly into a small ring with moderate lacing.

Aroma of hops, malt and hints of citrus.

Taste was initially hop heavy then balanced out with a sweet malt, hunts of grapefruit and pine.

Mouthfeel was medium body with light carbonation, very crisp and smooth, alcohol booziness was well masked.

Overall a very nice double IPA to be enjoyed on a nice summer evening.
