10/6/07- Had on tap via samplers at the Bistro Wet Hop Beer Fest in Hayward, CA.

Presentation- Via the tap into 4oz sampler glasses.

Appearance- By far, the most unusual, different and awkward beer I have ever seen. Pretty sure I got the first pour from the fresh keg as well. Picture orange juice with extra pulp added...or, picture your car in the height of pollen season and what it looks like when you come out and see a film of yellow-green gunk on your car. Pretty much this beer. I did see a few pours after mine, and they didn't look quite as bad. And by the end of the day, the pours looked a bit more towards normal. About a 1/4 inch Orange Julius looking head, bits of pulp chunk and a nice thick film of gunk inside the glass. Gave it a 2.5 because of the novelty and just the weirdness of it all.

Smell- Well, the smell was freaking incredible. Fresh hops all the way. A huge hit of grapefruit, orange, tangerine and lemon. Not really a whole lot of malt, but a nice juicy fruity hop nose.

Taste- Damn, not even up to the nose. Fruit flavors are muted, with a rather flavorless hop bitterness. Pine flavors come through with unripe grapefruit pith. Bitter without much malt to hold it up.

Mouthfeel- A touch thin, a bit watery and a touch seltzery. Medium carbonation and a lasting deep bitter aftertaste.

Drinkability- The smell was worth trying alone. Otherwise, just a freak show of a beer that really was just drinkable.

Serving type: on-tap
