12oz bottle

A- Poured into a pint glass. Pours a pale golden yellow/orange color with an off-white head.

S- The aroma is very nice, more IPA status than pale ale. A lot of fresh citrusy hops make up the aroma.

T- The taste like the aroma is fantastic. There is some malt up front but the highlight is without question the fresh, bitter and flavorful hops. Delicious!

M- The mouthfeel is between light and medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation.

O- Overall, this is one of my favorite pale ales out there. Highly recommended!

12 oz bottle poured into a glass.

Appearance: Pours a neat golden color with a pillowy white head that sticks around a good while. Carbonation and lacing both heavy.

Aroma: Smells of pine, grapefruit, lemon, citrus, grassiness and some toast.

Taste: There's something off about this. The grapefruit in the nose is really, really dominant. It's very bitter for an American pale ale. It's OK but I don't love it.

Mouthfeel: It's pleasant on the palate; body is just right for this style. The bitter grapefruit taste makes it less enjoyable, though.

Overall: I know this stuff is beloved but I'm kind of lukewarm on it. It's very average. The dominant flavors don't appeal to me, which is kind of a deal-breaker.

I purchased this bottle at Shady Mcgrady's enjoyed chilled in a goblet.

The color is copper with good clarity and thick white head with average bead and copious lace, carbonation is visible and rises rapidly to the 2 fingers plus cap. The smell is a mix of hop aromas which are slightly pine and citrus with a subtle floral element and light toasted grain aroma. The feel is good with moderate bitterness and medium carbonation with slight sweetness and hint of spice with a mild alcohol element in the semi-dry finish.

The taste is very good with a modest amount of malt supporting a pretty hop forward flavor with slight spice and pine and gentle tangy zesty citrus which makes for a mostly balanced taste in general with some mild sweetness as it finishes. There is a mild alcohol note in the taste which adds to the slight bite of bitter hops which are almost grapefruit-like. Overall I think this is decent for what it is -a stronger west coast style pale -practically an IPA, but a nice malt balance explains the pale label IMO.
