Second Best Pale Ale ever made. Ridiculously hoppy for a pale ale, and I LOVE that. Close to Lagunitas IPA, without any hint of bitterness. So glad Fresno started carrying this gem. More expensive than the IPA here, but worth every penny!!! Very refreshing.

12oz brown bottle poured into a pint glass. The beer is a mostly clear golden color with a white head that left streaks on the glass. The beer is full of citrus and tropical fruit aroma and flavors with citrus rind bitterness on the after taste. Medium bodied, smooth and easy enough to drink a few. Very good overall.

Real nice looking, big white head that lasted and left sticky lace.

Aroma was nice and hoppy, just like the taste. This could easily be an IPA, I've had IPAs that were less hoppy. Good citrus qualities, a touch of spiciness, some fruity aspects all blend well to make an enjoyable ale.

Body is light to medium, yet just a touch slick at the finish, with a bit of a lingering citrus bitter finish.

Overall it's a damn fine quality beer. Not that I would expect anything less from Lagunitas.

Appearance- Pours up a good amount of head which appears to have pretty good retention. The head is a pure cotton white while the body is a light amber that shows orange and lemon when held up to the light. Some lacing is left behind.

Nose- More subdued than I would like- pale ales are supposed to be a showcase for aromatic hops. Citrus with some pine and resin. There's a little more presence when I smell the body and I can separate distinct lemon and orange notes. Swirling gives the aroma from the glass a little more presence but nothing that is considerable. After a couple minutes, I get a much better aroma. Melon and grapefruit along side the orange and lemon.

Taste- Fairly reflective of the nose and quite juicy. Citrus (orange and lemon with melon and grapefruit around the edges). A slight bitterness of pine and resin that provides necessary contrast but does not dominate in any way. There's a bit of spiciness to the bitter hop finish as well. At the moment, this beer is pretty much in the same class as a SNPA or a Red Chair. There are also notes of spicy green fruit and matchstick. Lots of balance, good integration- pretty much what I look for in a pale ale.

Mouthfeel- Between light and medium bodied with hints of syrup in the texture. Light carbonation but it works.

Drinkability- Easy going and sessionable. And as with almost all of Lagunitas' beers, it's a bargain for the quality.

Overall- Solid pale ale which I've had before and will be another go to beer for me. Definitely worth a try.
