This has a deep rusty hue with an off white head. The head was thick and cohesive but was short on life and impressive in lacing.

The scent was quite brilliant at first but lost its flare over a few minutes. Robust caramel malts and grainy sweetness accompany a raisin and tea leaf. Some toasted nut, pecan and piney hop aroma sits in the background of a barley grain backbone.

The taste is strong barley grain and toast. I get lots of earthy piney hop flavor near the end and a metallic sweetness. This sweetness is a mystery, maybe sitting Undercover, as it pops up in the last third of the sip and is gone in a flash. I like the sweetness and wanted more but I do like the grain forefront.

The alcohol is hidden well and the feel is smooth but slightly astringent. This is a great ale, not incredibly diverse, but very well constructed.

12oz bottle served in a Sierra Nevada IPA glass

A - Pours copper/amber color with a thick sandy head. Healthy cap and collar with sheets of impressive lacing.

S - Deep buttery malts, very bready, caramel candy sweetness, hints of orange cream.

T - Pine hops start things off with hints of mandarin orange flavors. Sweet and sticky malt backing, roasted crystal barley, dry grassy hops show up in the middle as the bitterness kicks up a notch. Finishes with a woody bitterness.

M - Thick feel, small-bubbled carbonation, full body, dry finish. Resinous hop oils left on the aftertaste.

Strong malt backing with plenty of sticky pine hops makes for a delicious, robust, and balanced DIPA. Alcohol is 100% unnoticeable. Just an all-around solid brew.

Deep, clear, amber-reddish color with a rich off-white head. Head is a little frothy with strong retention. Tons of lacing across the glass.

Wonderfully warm, complex nose. Spice, nutmeg, citrus, pine, pastel flowers, brown sugar, molasses, ginger snaps and a very gentle dankness in the back end. On first nose, you feel like the beer is going to be sweet, but somehow you feel that it isn't.

Rich mahagony sweetness from the malt. Light brown sugar, molasses, baking spice on the entry; and then the hops kick in. Citrus zest and resin coming in and leaving a moderate level of bitterness across the palate in their wake. The finish has a the slightly slick feel of lanolin. Even with the the hops, the beer does end up finishing slightly sweet.

Medium-full bodied with a very rich, dense texture. Lots of mouthfeel (almost chewy) and lots of length. Soft bitterness and sweetness in the finish. Alcohol is nicely balanced in the frame of the beer's body.

A lot of beer. Big, intense and lasting. I would like a little less sweetness on the palate, but what a wonderful effort.

Well some big wraps on this bad boy lets see and it pours a clear red copper hue with a billowing four finger head that's stays and leaves lacing everywhere, the smell is toffee, bready malts, pine, ripe fruits and booze, the mouthfeel is full bodied with moderate carbonation and has tastes of fairy floss, bready malts, toffee, honey and finished like a ripe fruit wine dry and boozy and overall it's definitely a unique drop and really different to the rest of their range and nice for a cold night a perfect sipper cheers.
