12oz bottle poured into tulip pint; bottled on Feb 1, 2011.
A: Pours a clear, somewhat dark golden color with two fingers of bubbly white head. Good retention, good lacing, and lots of carbonation bubbles flowing up through the glass. Very pleasant to look at.
S: A big rush of sweet, citrus hops starts things off- grapefruit and some especially tropical-smelling pineapple in particular. A good mix of other hops are detectable too, with hints of pine and floral aromas. As well-balanced as the hops are with their variety, a light wheat aroma adds even more complexity to the already great smell.
T: Similar to aroma, with a large portion of the aroma's hop flavors showing up as bitter here rather than sweet. Grapefruit overtakes the pineapple, though orange peel shows up, and a light grassiness emerges as well. The wheat is really pushed to the background here, providing a light foundation to hold up the stronger hop flavors- though a discrete bready malt flavor does come out in the middle of the flavor. Long, lingering, bittersweet citrus finish.
M: Medium-bodied with carbonation on the light side of moderate. Smooth and sticky, and even slightly creamy thanks to the bubbles- an excellent body to communicate the beer's flavors.
O: A very good beer; I enjoyed my glass wholly and will be picking this one up again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a non-traditional IPA, even if it's not too far off-base from the style.

I really love how different this is! It has the fresh citrus and pine notes of an IPA with smooth, mellow undertones of orange peel and vanilla. It feels like an IPA and wheat beer working together and it is such a good combination! The overall product is fresh and citrusy with a smooth creamy finish. I plan on buying this again very soon.
