Gee, an American Pale Wheat that I deemed necessary of a 6-pack purchase?I usually don't care for the style, so thanks are due to badassrandy for giving me a sample at Max's the other day
A: What a gorgeous pour! In my Duvel tulip, this sits a mostly clear light amber with a gorgeous 3-finger thick off-white head. Retention is excellent, and the lacing, beautiful. Could not possibly want more from a beer 5/5
S: Bollocks, this isn't an APWA. It's an IPA for all practical purposes. Intense pine hops up front, incredibly pungent with a lot of depth. This really is like breaking off pine leaves and sticking them in your nose. There is also an undercurrent of sweeter citrus aromas (notably oranges) that provides a good contrast. There's a little bit of sweetness as well, and it balances the hops (not necessarily a good thing for me), but the hops are so wonderfully expressed, I'm having a hard time faulting this
T: Opens up with a lot of hops. A lot. Piney and pungent, this is starting to be Lagunitas' calling card. The amount of flavor is through the roof, and the bitterness is fairly reserved. Again, the flavor components are primarily pine with some citrus. While the body is a little bigger than I'd like, the sweetness isn't overwhelming either, with a little bit of caramel coming through. I'm really not getting any wheat in here, and I'm not complaining. Finishes medium-dry with a bitter, hoppy finish with more pine and citrus character. Awesome
M: If I were to fault this beer, it would be in this department. With a drier character, this would be fantastic. The mouthfeel is rather silky and smooth. While that's an interesting change from the norm (crackling, sparking and dry) for hoppy beers, I'm not sure it enhances the appeal all that much. Still, very good.
D: Very drinkable. At $2 a bottle, this is a steal as well. I'm drinking more of this over the next few months.

Poured bottle into glass. 7.5 % abv
Appearance- Pours a translucent golden yellow with a lively two finger head that hangs around.
Smell- Ripe orange along with grapefruit citrus hints. Sweet bready malt as well.
Taste- A fresh toasted biscuit malt flavor arrives and quickly develops into a strong wheat character. This wheat flavor blends along nicely with the citric hop bitterness as the two tastes co-mingle with each other. This wheat/hop taste pairing of this beer is interesting and different to me. Very easy drinking.
Mouthfeel- Surprisingly light and thin for the vibrant taste and 7.5 percent abv. Well done.
Overall- A very interesting and delicious beer that is both wheaty and hoppy. A top among the APWA style for sure. As my first Lagunitas beer I was impressed. A must try for those seeking a tasty and potent warm weather brew.
