Appearance: clear; golden yellow; 2 finger head, long lasting with good lacing.
Smell: I wouldn't have placed it without reading reviews, but it does smell of Papaya; hints of malt and citrus, too.
Taste: Juicy malt on start; citrusy hops hit pretty quickly and leads to a good malty sweetness; finishes fairly dry with a lingering taste of grapefruit and dried tropical fruit. Pretty well balanced between malt and sweet.
Mouthfeel: medium creaminess with a good level of carbonation.
Remarks: Pretty complex and different. Excellent beer overall.

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. I am somehow just now finally getting around to reviewing this one; it has been years since I've last had this beer. Looking forward to having it again. Listed here as an American pale wheat ale, I always thought it was an IPA.
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - Pours a bright juicy orange body. Light chill haze, with three big fluffy fingers of white head. Very good head retention for the high 7.50% abv. Good thick scattered white lacing. Looks very nice.
S - The nose has all of the traditional aromas of a hoppy IPA - orange, grapefruit, papaya, pine, fruit rinds. Some soapiness present. A juicy tropical fresh smelling aroma.
T - Taste follows the nose - big bitter grapefruit / orange rinds, piney, herbal, hoppy. Lemongrass / wheat presence. The wheat is more noticeable on the taste than on the aroma. Very nicely balanced.
M - Feel is crisp, creamy, and bitter. Resinous piney hops. Dry on the finish. Light bodied with good carbonation.
Overall, a delicious beer from Lagunitas, it's easy to see why this is one of their flagship beers. Deliciously drinkable.
