Got this one at Drinks Over Dearborne on our recent trip to Chicago. Thanks for the chat Mike!
From a bottle into a snifter
APPEARANCE: Pours a one finger, medium-thinner looking white head with decent retention. Orange in color with medium carbonation evident. Head quickly fades to a thin film with immediate clingy lacing. Slight ring remains but leaves minimal to no lacing down the glass.
SMELL: Pale malts, sweet melon, and hints of butterscotch. An interesting combo and bold enough to make a statement.
TASTE: Pale malts, and sweet melon and toffee as well. Some butterscotch shows up through the middle, leading into a citrusy, bitter hop finish. A mild aftertaste of toffee, butterscotch and bitter hops. Some citrus and grapefruit in there as well. Not getting any wheat in there, but what I am getting is interesting and tasty for sure.
PALATE: Medium body and a little light on the palate. Creamy smooth, goes down smooth and finishes slightly mouth-coating.
OVERALL: A very enjoyable beer for sure. A more persistent and fuller head would help the look of this one, but the other aspects were very nice. It's listed as a pale wheat ale, but there's nothing wheat-like about it. It's kind of an ultra ESB crossed with an American IPA. This one is a little different than the norm, and I'm glad I picked one up on a whim. Recommended.

Poured bottle into glass. 7.5 % abv
Appearance- Pours a translucent golden yellow with a lively two finger head that hangs around.
Smell- Ripe orange along with grapefruit citrus hints. Sweet bready malt as well.
Taste- A fresh toasted biscuit malt flavor arrives and quickly develops into a strong wheat character. This wheat flavor blends along nicely with the citric hop bitterness as the two tastes co-mingle with each other. This wheat/hop taste pairing of this beer is interesting and different to me. Very easy drinking.
Mouthfeel- Surprisingly light and thin for the vibrant taste and 7.5 percent abv. Well done.
Overall- A very interesting and delicious beer that is both wheaty and hoppy. A top among the APWA style for sure. As my first Lagunitas beer I was impressed. A must try for those seeking a tasty and potent warm weather brew.
