Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams "Perfect Pint" glass.
Appearance: Pours a bright and slightly hazy copper orange with lots of rising bubbles. Huge six fingers of white foam head with very good retention. Leaves a lot of creamy lacing around the glass.
Smell: Strong aroma of citrus fruit esters. Big hints of orange peel, grapefruit, mango, pineapple, apricot, and lemon. Some earthy hops and pine resin. Lots of wheat malts with hints of grain, biscuit, and cracker. A very ripe and fruity smell.
Taste: Like it smells, a big burst of citrus fruit esters and wheat grains. Big notes of grapefruit, orange peel, pineapple, mango, lemon, and apricot. Solid mix of herbal, earthy hops and spicy pine resin. The bitterness is pretty clean and smooth for such a heavily hopped beer. Good notes of wheat grains and bready biscuit. Very good taste.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy, juicy, and very smooth. Alcohol is hidden really well.
Overall: A really good juicy ale. Has all the citrus flavor you expect from a West Coast IPA, but with more wheat and less bitterness.

After I drank the first few sips of this is tasted really Hoppy but in a good way. Fairly Floral. Good thick taste. Hard to describe but even though it is not the same type of beer it really tasted like a beer that I had last week in California. Pliney the Elder! The taste was about 80% similar. So if you want something that tastes similar but live in Texas like I do go buy some Little Sumpin to satisfy your Pliney the Elder needs.
