I've seen this beer around lately and decided to finally give it a shot. Let's see what this little Sumpin has to offer:
Appearance: Pours a pretty clear orange-yellow with a solid 1" of fluffy light orange foam that was maintained by lots of bubbles rising. The head was airy looking, but still was >1/2 height more than a minute after the pour. The head never completely disappears and leaves a little bit of lace on the glass on the way down.
Aroma: The aroma has lots of hops in it with only a subtle emphasis on the citrusy American hops. It borders more on floral, but is still well blended. There is a subtle sweetness starting to come out as the beer warms up some as a very light caramel. I get a subtle chalkiness that indicates to me that there is some pretty serious bittering, but it doesn't seem like it is grossly out of balance with the water (like Otter Creek DIPA).
Taste: The flavor isn't nearly as hoppy as you would expect from the aroma, but it is still firmly weighted toward the hops. The body is medium, but the carbonation is high, so that all makes it lighter on the palate. The alcohol is well hidden and only dries out the back of the throat a bit with the hops in the finish. The finish is definitely balanced toward the hops and it dries out the back of the throat a bit, but it isn't annoying or anything.
Opinion: Overall this is a pretty decent beer. It has a good balance, blend of hops, and the malt bill is subtle but compliments the ensemble. That said, I am a malt-head, so this one finished just a bit bitter for my taste, but it was still pretty nice to the back of your throat. I will enjoy the rest of my six-pack no doubt, though I am not sure when the urge will strike me to buy this again just for pleasure.

Piny, bity, floraly. This is a standard in my area.I have consumed so much of it I had to take a few months off.I love this ale.Stands up with any IPA even though it is not considered an IPA.It can be found most everywhere in the country and is very fairly priced. No need to go into a long description. If you have not tried it.Do it now.Cheers!
