12oz. bottle poured into a pint glass.

A: Pours a pristine honey golden color with a thick, creamy white head from the wheat. The head loses a little bit of its luster, but retains nicely at about a 1/4" with an absolute barrage of carbonation bubbles rising to the surface to maintain it. The combination of the beautiful hue, thick lacing, and massive amounts of synchronized bubbles floating has this beer constantly catching my attention.

S: Sweet grains and some wheat. Hints of organic honey. A burst of citrus hop aroma comes through in the finish. Complex and aromatic.

T: Lots of floral hops with some big citrus flavors—grapefruit, orange peel, SLIGHT hints of lemon. There's a nice malt backbone underneath, but it's light and bready and slightly sweet, much like a wheat beer (go figure). The malt doesn't really lead the way, however, as it slowly fades from existence in the finish. You're left with a last huzzah of grapefruity citrus and light notes of grassy/flowery bitterness. This is one stupidly complex ale. And I mean that with all respect.

M: A nice body that sits comfortably in the medium category. Lots of silky smoothness, a light touch of creaminess. Damn near perfect carbonation. Would have scored higher, but I feel like this coats the mouth a little TOO much in the finish. This is by no means a hinderance, but I would have prefered a little bit of a drier/stickier finish.

O: The entire staff over at Lagunitas needs to pat themselves on the back for this one. Not only have they devised a geniusly complex and interesting beer, they've also devised some effin' delicious flavors. Hops, wheat, honey, light malts all wrapped up in a devilishly drinkable package. This one'll be finding its way back into my fridge in the future.

After I drank the first few sips of this is tasted really Hoppy but in a good way. Fairly Floral. Good thick taste. Hard to describe but even though it is not the same type of beer it really tasted like a beer that I had last week in California. Pliney the Elder! The taste was about 80% similar. So if you want something that tastes similar but live in Texas like I do go buy some Little Sumpin to satisfy your Pliney the Elder needs.
