From the bottle I did not realize that this was a Pale Wheat until I read about it on BA.
Pours a light golden color, little touch of amber maltiness, gorgeous head produced from the wheat used ion the brew. This nicely adorned brew slowly settles down, leaving great lacing
Smell is hoppy upfront. It takes a bit of searching, but slowly the sweet creaminess from the wheat comes out in the nose. THe citrus hops lead into a nice mix of pale malts, wheat, floral yeasts, more of a Wheat IPA if you will.
Whereas the aroma focused more on the hops, with an under tone of wheat, the flavor shifts it more into the sweeter, cream-o wheat spectrum. Delicate pale malt, hops, light musty wheat and creamy yeastiness contribute to create quite the enjoyable brew. I am not a fan of this style, I'll take my true Bavarian Hefe anyday, as this style tends to underdeliver quite severly, however, this little "Sumpin-sumpin" is something pretty good
To some extent im reminded of a take on the Brooklyn Hopfen-Weisse when I try this, hoppy, yet yeasty and smooth. I like how the wheat spiciness meld into the hoppy spice and the pepery yeast. I would ask for a slightly creamier roundness in the mouthfeel however to stay true to this style's Bavarian roots.
Im thnking grilled shimp, sausages, pretzels, rye bread, good German traditional fare with this brew. nicely done

I discovered this beer several years ago and was enamoured. I'd never had such a suculent tasting IPA before. I was a regular Sierra Nevada Pale Ale guy (which is my everyday) and the flavour here was a wake up call for me. I love this beer. This is one of the best I have ever had and I will grab it without hesitation from the shelf. And like most products from Lagunitas, I have enjoyed its subtlety beautiful flavor and consistency every time I buy it. If you ever have anyone offer this to you at a gathering or whatever, they deserve a kiss right on the mouth... per Lydia Loveless, and hopefully she looks like the Varga Girl on the label.
