Great IPA by Lagunitas who's been in the hop business for awhile. Love my California beers and this one ranks on top. I would consider it a golden-style india pale ale, as the color is bright yellow and has a butter and biscuit taste. Great mixture of sappy pine notes with citrus flavor as well. This one goes down easy, and also has a nice ABV at 7.5%.

12 oz poured into plastic hotel cup. Le sigh.

Appearance: Straw colored liquid with a white head that leaves a good amount of lacing along the side of the cup.

Smell: Very hop forward, but a little bit of sweetness to the nose.

Taste: Very much like the nose. Tasty.

Mouthfeel: a bittersweet aftertaste lingers.

Overall: a very nice, easily accessible beer.

A: Poured 12oz bottle into pint glass. Medium carbonation with nice 1-inch head and good lacing that lingered for a good while. Color honey amber with a dash of orange.
S: Grapefruit, tangerines, and sourdough bread. Not getting much of the pine that others have described, compared to an IPA.
T: Heavy on the hops for a Pale Ale. Well-balanced and full, with fruit up front and some somewhat bitter pine, grass and spice in the back end. Can just barely taste the wheat. Every sip makes me want more.
M: Medium-bodied and smooth. Tingles all the way down. Refreshing to the end.
O: One of my favorite all-around beers, enjoyable for hopheads and wheat-lovers alike.

Bought a 12oz bottle from Bev Mart $2.25
Golden color
Citrus smell
Medium carbonation
Smooth sweet hoppy taste, slight citrus taste
Overall a really easy drinking beer that does not taste like a high alcohol beer so got to take it easy when drinking it. I would buy again.

A: Poured into a pint glass a very clear bright gold color; had a bright white and thick head about a finger and a half in size that retained well and left lacing. The reason I gave its looks such high marks is in the little things, the head looked very dense and sticky, the rush of bubbles; it was all very appealing.

S: This worried me when I first opened the bottle. There was a very strong pine smell, I was expecting a more balanced beer since it is a wheat ale but it smelled almost like an IPA. On the whole though the sent was well done: pine, maybe grass, plus grapefruit and other citrus and fruit with a slight hint of bread. Not what I expected, but good.

T: Much more balanced then the scent implied. There is a large amount of hops up front, not to bitter but they still make a statement. This is followed by citrus fruits, and at the end the wheat and bread flavors, though these were the weakest overall.

M: Well carbonated giving a thick frothy feel. The tingle of the bitter hops can be felt on the tongue. It finishes smooth leaving a pine/citrus aftertaste. Very refreshing.

O: While I am not a big fan of hoppy beers and I was not expecting so much hops in this one in particular, I found myself really enjoying this beer. It was balanced and refreshing, there was a good complexity to the flavors and they matched nicely together. I certainly would recommend this beer with the caveat that one should be prepared for a lot of hops and a hint of wheat, which is actually not a bad combo.

Pours straw gold and crystal clear. 2 finger off-white head dissipates slowish and leaves behind lots of sticky lacing.

Bright citrus hop aroma. Lemon, grapefruit, and bitter orange. Light wheat malt and biscuit.

Wheat comes through stronger on tongue than the nose. Biscuit and dough. Grapefruit hops. More citrus in the form of lemon, orange rind, and nectarine.

Smooth mild mouth feel with good hop bite. Medium carbonation. Citrus lingers. Just the right amount of bitterness.

Big citrus with good malt balance. Drinks lke a light IPA more than a wheat ale.

A great hoppy ale, but I couldn't really tell that wheat was used. A nice grapefruity aroma with some nice, dry bitterness. Sweet, but easy to put down.

On tap at Hard Rock in Tahoe- tasted wonderful. I've had this one many times and really like its balance and taste. I'm not a huge fan of straight up wheat beers. This one you might not even guess that it is thanks to the strong hop character.

my humble opinion: one of the best beers ever.
Hard to find another beer so balanced between its hoppy character, wheat base and natural fruity aroma. I can't think of a time or place not to drink this.
While it's somewhat mass produced and available everywhere, that a good thing for all.
To me this is the beer that put Lagunitas on the map.
pout this in a nice glass, kick your feet up and life will get better

Little Sumpin' Sumpin' smells of floral hops with a strong piney overtone. Its taste is a bit bitter, and not reminiscent of most other wheat beers, but it's not undrinkable, either. I don't get the sweet notes from it that other reviewers have; what I smelled and tasted were much more floral.

L: Pours golden, clear with a light orange tint. Lots of tiny carbonation rising. Small white head that dissipates rather quickly.

S: Grapefruit, honey, lilikoi [passion fruit]

T: Like the aroma, grapefruit and lilikoi. Some light malts and a malt sweetness.

F: Medium-light bodied and nicely cleansing.

O: Very nice. Very drinkable. Definitely recommend picking up a six-pack or two.

A really beautiful beer. Dark honey color, with a thick fluffy head about 3 fingers tall. Left a lot of lacing and a thin layer of foam on top that lasted til the end. Smell was a little off putting (my bottle was undated, could have been old). Smelled a little like Lysol mixed with rubbing alcohol. There was definitely an unpleasant alcohol burn that tasted a little like rubbing alcohol, also. I realize this is a little higher than average ABV than a typical beer, but at the same time, I've had equally high ABV beers without that taste. If I looked past the alcohol burn, the beer was great; balanced with just the right amount of hops and citrusy flavors. I don't think it's quite as good as others here say, but it was okay. I'd be willing to try it again and see if my bottle really was bad.

Bottle poured semi aggressively into pint glass. Good 3 finger head. I had a slight head cold so smell and taste is prob a bit off. Lacing stuck around throughout. Mouthfeel was pleasant. Could get the hops to come thru still even with a cold. I've been lookin for a decent beer to stock up a few for a good drink without having to think about how it compares to the last, this may be it.

Poured this beer into a weizen glass creating a 3 inch head with nice retention and lacing down the whole side of the glass that pretty much stayed there as I drank this beer. Aroma is all hops. There is wheat breadiness and sweetness somewhere in there but the hops takes over. Taste is basically all hops front, middle and back. The good part is that the hops is very balanced. Not too much and does not stay on the palate too long. The part that may not appeal to everyone is that the hops basically takes over the whole thing. Wheat beers are pretty mild so throwing so much hoppy flavor in there basically makes this a one-note type deal. Solid drinking beer just not enough complexity for me.

Aroma of citrussy, grassy hops. A bit tropical. Somewhat sweet smelling. Fresh bread malt aroma. Pine needles, grapefruit, and a little honey.

Pours clear light amber with an off-white head. Decent retention and good lacing.

Juicy citrus fruits on the palate. Marmalade and pine. Floury wheat flavor rounds things off. Some sweetness upfront, honey-like. Finishes fairly dry though.

Crisp medium body, medium carbonation. Mouthfilling but not cloying. Some hop resin lingers with some floury wheat.

Drinks more like an IPA with notable wheat flavor. Not complaining though.

(Julian # 260 5, taken warm off the singles shelf... poured into a Chouffe tulip)

L: golden-amber liquid with a light-moderate level of haze... fluffy-sudsy, very open-structured, spongy foam - slow burn on the retention... some craggy, truly lacey-lace left - looks crocheted

S: very breakfast-cereal fruity hop aromas up front, with a nip of spicy-piney in the back... perhaps a faint whiff of clean medicinal booze... xmas-y smells within the hops... little-to-no malt... touch of spearmint... this smells like an American IPA

T: rather thick wash of tropical-candy-fruity hops - a slow cascade of luscious-y resins rinse down back through the palate, coating it with an almost pixi-stick like candy flavor... a touch of spiciness and prickle of alcohol lights up in the back... the malt is just a vehicle/carpet for the dump pile of hops in here... no, this is not balanced... perhaps getting some of the wheat malt in the aftertaste, underneath the fire-in-the-sky of hop/fusel spice... could be more bitter, less girl-drink-y

F: relatively light in its flow, but certainly some potent resiny viscosity... not built for a session... I'm not even sure what food one could pair this with - it's a bit on the sticky side

O: it's halfway to a double IPA - just label it so... even at 2.5 months old, this IS showing age, for sure... it's a fine hoppy beer, but it almost seems like a potluck(?), scratch recipe... this has to be one of the beers (first time having this in years) from Lagunitas that initial turned me off on this brewery (Sucks regained my attention)... really a trash IPA w/ no personality - an uncomfortably drunk party guest that passes out, flopping down on the dumpy couch that is your tastebuds

This beer pours a crystal clear bright golden orange color with a 2 finger bright white head. There is good retention throughout and not much lacing. Smell is lemon, floral, pineapple, grassiness, and pine. Taste is the same with moderate bitterness. Feel is light, crisp and well carbonated. Overall this beer is complex yet suble. Too subtle for my liking, but very drinkable.

DATE TASTED: December 4, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: Brew at the Zoo pint... OCCASION: watching the Cavs/Pelicans with a second rating in one night... APPEARANCE: a bronze, sparsely effervescent body; head is off-white, crowning with bubbly froth and a quarter-finger showing.... AROMA: at first, a noticeably light, aromatic hops bomb of Cascade, Centennial, and Columbus hops... some definitive pungent wheaty yeasts dampen the aroma... PALATE: medium-bodied, worthwhile mouthfeel with enough warming weight to suggest its 7.5% ABV...a lasting, pleasant aftertaste...a bit crunchy, and engaging...TASTE:the label claims simplicity, and the taste profile approximates its promise, with a yeasty oddity pushed upward by a hoppy citrus juiciness... a bit of spruce tip ends up in this as well... OVERALL: as promised, a beer that tantalizes and pleases in equal measure... another beer that I (embarrassingly, finally) sampled at Tom's beer fest last week... Lagunitas delivers again....

Appearance: Clear, golden-orange color with two fingers of fluffy head that fades slowly with a thick curtain of lace.

Aroma: Lots of juicy, citrus and pine hop aroma with some grassy, caramel malt in the background.

Taste: A touch of creamy malt up front, then just an avalanche of juicy, fresh hop bitterness. Bitterness fades pretty quickly on the finish, with just a hint lingering until the next sip.

The Rest: Super smooth and drinkable, a fantastic beer!

Exceptional! Incredible balance of semi-sweet malts, piney resins and citrus hops. If I were on my death bed and asked what beer would I like before I meet my maker...I only hope I can still say Little Sumpin' Sumpin'!

This beer poured a clear straw-gold--beautiful color and clarity! The head has gone down and left a fine, thin layer of foam on top of the beer. Much less residual carbonation than there was on the Lagunitas IPA.

On the nose, there are hints of the piney, resiny flavor that is to come. Palate-wise, this is a knockout. There's just enough bitterness to be refreshing and eye-opening and just enough malt and acidity to counterbalance it. The finish is clean and pleasant. Overall, this is a fantastic beer and one that I don't buy often enough. I plan to rectify that.

I definitely get a lot of citra hop flavor - it comes across as tangerine and a touch of bitter rind. A supportive malt base. The beer has a nice smooth feel with a good amount of carbonation.

The second offering from Lagunitas I have had and the second time in a row I have been impressed.

Out of the bottle it pours a golden ochre color with thick, white head. The head leaves a nice lacing down the glass. The odor of the beer was unlike any ale I have ever had, it was citrusy and lightly ale-like. It actually smelled sweet, but it was tamped down by the hops - a very good mix. The mouthfeel was tingly, strangely tingly, but crisp and fresh as well. I was truly surprised. The taste started tangy, spicy, and citrusy with sweet notes, then ended with a bold ale taste - about the level I'm not a fan of, but still good. Overall, the brew provided me a more enjoyable experience, it reminded me what craft beer drinking is truly all about.
