12oz bottle served in a standard pint glass.

pours a clear, bright golden-yellow while yielding a fluffy off-white head. very respectable retention and a lot of nice lacing. great presentation. nose is very nice, offering a lot of citric and tropical hoppiness with some background characters of floral hops and wheat. really good.

taste follows the nose well - exceeds it even - with tons of citrus and tropical fruit, some floral notes and a wheaty/malty backbone. very tasty. medium bodied mouthfeel with average carbonation.

overall, this is my first (and definitely not last) go-round with this beer, and color me impressed. strikes me as a perfect summer barbecue brew. (not that i'll be confining my sumpin sumpin enjoyment merely to those occasions.) and so widely available to boot. not to be missed.

Poured from a standard pressure-cap bottle into a conic pint glass in high elevation Kalispell, Mont. Reviewed live.

A- Two-finger fluffy off-white head with gripping lacing and large bubbles near the edge. Semi-cloudy golden color with lazy carbonation. Nice looking brew.

S- Floral hops, guava, fruity, tropical, maybe some gum, wheat and pomegranate. What a lovely, rich, full smell.

T- Wheaty, some alcoholic flavor, fruity and citrusy hops. Grapefruit. Kind of a clouded feeling beer.

M- Dry finish. Syrupy bodied.

O- Taste doesn't live up to the promise of the smell, but certainly not a bad beer.

Poured into my pint glass, this brew pours a golden yellow with a creamy white, fluffy, pillow like head that refuses to die. I love this one.

S: Complementing the wheat, the hops add wonderful notes of fresh citrus. This is probably the most hoped up wheat beer in the world.

T: The flavor follow suit, and is exceptionally smooth with the wheat malt. Amazing indeed, this brew drinks like a wheat, with the flavor profile of an APA.

MF/D: The mouthfeel is medium and very smooth. The drink is boarder line excellent. This is 7.5%? I don't think so.

A- golden color with a off white head and a below average head.

S- lots of very fresh hops, citrus, some malts and grain

T- more hops, lemon and grapefruit, washed down by a good wheat character and bitter finish. Really balanced.

O- incredibly refreshing with a really nice hop character.

Hot chesty lady on the lable, cant pass a beer up with boobs on it.

Poured from a brown stuby twist off bottle into a pub glass, producing a 1'' white sudzy head. Slow to receed leaving behind a generous coating of white rings all the way down.
A thin cap is left ontop of the beer. The color is a transparent darker gold.

Aroma is super citric with pine and orange peel with a bit of lemon zest. Mildly sweet with more of a hop bittering/ dry aroma. Mild bready yeasty aroma, just a touch of bubblegum and spicie amerillo aroma. A good amount of dry hopping had to go into this, as the aroma hops are pretty pungeant.

Upfront somwhat sweet with carbonation presence thoughout. Hops are a big part of this beer, but do not overwhelm.
Pine and grapefruit up front, with more of an acidic sweeter hop profile coming into the middle with pinneaple and a bit of spice.
Wheat is picked up just into the swallow. There is a bit of creamyness here too, even with the carbonation abundance, normal for the style.
The finish is much more dry and bitter, with peppery hops lingering alonside lemon rind and just a touch of that pinneaple acidic fruity hop taste. Its overall dry though into the finish with plenty of bitters.
The only real sweetness was upfront on first sip, a touch of fermented honey there too.

This is a crisp and refreshing take on the style, all the more enjoyable by the abunance of hops. Hop heads, eat your heart out. Those looking for a blue moon type of beer will not find it here. This is a fantastic addition to the Lagunitas lineup.

No heat or warming to be found.

Appearance: Great cotton-like foam. Solid golden. Definitely has the traditional look of a filtered wheat ale. Carbonation is a bit absent.

Smell: Fresh grapefruit and grass. This li'l sumpin' sumpin' also has a slight herbal/floral scent. IPA qualities all around.

Taste/Mouthfeel: This really tastes like an IPA. Bitter grapefruit hops and some floral notes. The grapefruit notes fit the smell, but the floral flavors are definitely faint. Pretty full-bodied like a good IPA, which I wouldn't expect in a wheat ale, and I definitely like.

Overall Drinkability: A suprising ale. The alcohol really hits you on this one. Great flavors and smells.

Pours a nice clear golden with a fluffy white head. Excellent retention and very nice laceing.Aroma is of citrus, and piney hops.Body is medium and very carbonated. Taste is more like an IPA. Very hopped up front with a bit of a bready presence. Hoppy finish. Where's the wheat?

served on-tap @ Pequod's Pizza, Chicago, IL, into a pint glass

Pours like pretty much every good wheat does: hazy with a solid amount of white rocky head. Not much to say. It looks good.

The aroma is pretty fantastic for the style. This is only because of the hops. Vibrant, fresh, juicy hops. Nothing unusual here. Just the standard IPA aromas of grapefruit and pine and orange. A bit of tropicality (but not to the degree of, say, Boulevard 80-Acre).

This is a wheat IPA, even moreso than Gumballhead is. It's bursting with juicy hop flavor. But you can still taste the wheat backbone. The slight lemon quality from the wheat is accentuated by the citrus components from the hops. Delicious.

The mouthfeel is a tad slicker than most American Pale Wheat Ales, which tend to be pretty effervescent. This is due to all of the hop oils, no doubt. Still refreshing though. Overall this is about as good a beer as the pale wheat style can be.
