Bottle to Glass

Appearance - Poured a golden colour with a lot of carbonation and a bright white head

Smell - Pine, grapefruit, hops, a faint taste of spice

Taste - Hoppy, pine, grapefruit, no wheat smell at all

Overall - I got no wheat smell or taste at all. This is really more of an IPA then a wheat beer

12oz bottle poured into a goblet.

A: Golden color. Sticky lacing. Low retention of carbonation. Nothing out of the ordinary.

S: A bit of spice, almost wheaty. Some orange/grapefruit but everything here comes off very muted.

T: Much better than expected from the smell. Good amount of fruit coming through. Grape laced hops. Very pleasant. Subtle orange comes in at the end without grapefruit. Fruity without packing a citrus bite. Mellow for an IPA. Aftertaste is very pleasant albeit not mind blowing for an IPA

M: Great for an IPA. Very well balanced and highly drinkable. Not assertive. Finish is extremely clean.

O: Another IPA that is common around these parts and easily accessible. Worth the price and definitely one of those go to IPAs in the 6 pack format. Refreshing. Not world class but is consistent. The appearance and smell are so-so but the taste and mouthfeel definitely make up and at the end of the day, aren't those the most important aspects of a beer?

As far as Hoppy Wheats go, the IBU is just a tad too high for me and at 7.5% it's a little too alcoholic to make it sessionable (though you really can't taste the alcohol). I feel this is suited more toward IPA fanatics rather than Wheat connoisseurs. Appearance, smell and mouthfeel are great. Overall, this a very good beer and especially suited for summer, just be careful how many you drink, you'll feel it before you know it.

Believe the hype. My go to. Lagunitas hits it out of the park with Sumpin'. It has citrus, it's slightly bitter, it's refreshing, it's great with spicy food. I love the label design of anything Flying Dog, and Sumpin' by Lagunitas is a great looking label. Throwback pinup girl is asking you if you want to take a sip, and you do. She's naughty and knows you like that. I put this beer up against almost anything. Best part is that it's available all the time. The hype isn't a limited availability marketing/snob thing. Only mark I have against it is the difference in pricing locally. I see it at Alberson's for $14.99 a sixer but can pick it up at my favorite ma and pa liquor store for $9.99.
