This beer is gaining popularity in Chicago for many reasons (Lagunitas opening their facility in the city, good distribution and great marketing) but the main reason it's owning the casual beer scene here is BECAUSE IT RULES.

Not to bring popularity into the discussion, that's not important. But this beer is gaining notoriety and I am a regular consumer of this when at pubs and restaurants.

This beer smells, feels, looks amazing. It tastes better than all that.

It has the appearance that any pale what ale SHOULD have. A nice orange-peel look to it. A beauty in a pint glass, even if it's a shit bartender pouring it.

Good citrus aroma before plunging into a smorgasbord of flavors ending in a dry finish.

I'd recommend it.

A: Beautiful golden orange. Two fingers bleach white head. Fairly rocky, with moderate dissipation. Laing is stellar. Carbonation appears subdued. Impressive looking.

S: Huge burst of citric madness. Grapefruit bomb from the nose. Also has that onion/garlic note, with pine needles, citric soapiness and tropical fruit galore. Very, very fragrant.

T: Intro is soft...pillowy, definitely the wheat, but that is quickly overtaken by the hops in this one. Huge citrus notes, with lots of grapefruit and lemon. Tropical fruit pops up, as does stone fruit.

M: If the wheat has any presence here, it seems to be in the texture. This beer is soft and pillowy. Very, VERY light bodied for how hoppy it is.

O: I'm sold. I had been avoiding this one for almost two years, simply due to the fact that it's labeled a "wheat beer". I should kick myself. This is a deliciously hopped beer with an amazingly light body. Considering the mad availability and downright reasonable price, I have a new staple IPA.
