I poured this beer into a tulip glass and had a little more than a finger of head. The foam went down pretty quickly. The coloring is a very clear yellow. There is not impediments in this beer.

This smells like a decent amount of pine. There is a refreshing presence on the top of this beer.

This would work out as a very good IPA. I like the hoppiness and clean flavor. This almost tastes like a very good Rye IPA. This is an easy to drink brew.

I will look to pick up a six pack of this next time I go shopping.

Appearance: Crystal clear golden hue with effervescence floating up toward a soapy off-white one finger head.

Aroma: Super sweet grapefruit and citrus hops. Like candied orange peel.

Taste: What we have here is an IPA in disguise. I've actually avoided trying this beer for a long time because I'm a hop head and wheat beers are a bit of an afterthought for me, but there is some real bitterness here. The great part is that all that hop goodness sits atop a mellow malt bill so it can really shine. There is pine and citrus first then transitions to more outright bitterness and finishes with a hint of that wheat flavor that is expected with the style. This is completely the opposite of what I had in mind when reading the information on the bottle but ironically exactly what I was looking for. Leaves your palate aching slightly after the bitter bashing is has taken from the hops.

Mouthfeel: Between thin and medium in body with carbonation that is almost aggressive. Above average drinkability.

Final Thoughts: Does Lagunitas make a beer that isn't an IPA? Whatever the answer, I can't wait to try another offering from them. Would I drink it again? Yep.

Another great gift from my sis-in-law.

A. Clear, honey gold. Finger of eggshell white head with good retention and consistent lacing. Really nice.

S. Citrus zest, orange peel, caramel, biscuit, a little brown sugar and bread crust. I really like how bright this smells, with an underlying wheat mellowness. Excellent.

T. Lots of citrus zest, candied orange and lemon, toasted bread crust, carmelized sugar, and some more herbal and bitter resinous notes. Hops are very forward. Finish is dry and crackery.

M. Moderate to high carbonation. Crisp and reasonably refreshing. A little bit of alcohol and hop burn betrays a slight lack of balance. Wheat malt could use a slightly more prominent role in the overall profile.

O. A very good pale wheat, though definitely on the hoppier side. Beautiful nose and well integrated flavors make this a worthwhile visit.

Last beer on the Beers of Fame list.

Appearance: A slightly hazed orange-amber hybrid. Haze drops to almost nothing as the beer warms. Solid bright-white, creamy, rocky head. Drops to a small cap with some solid, but not intense lacing.

Smell: So much citrus it's almost jarring initially. Orange, grapefruit, touches of tangerine, all coupled with a backing bitter pine element. Nicely floral as it warms, but damn do much orange. Some slight wheat in the back. Malts run a bit sweet with some caramel running underneath.

Taste: Big juicy orange coupled with a lingering pithy/piney bitterness. Solid malt sweetness works to temper some of the more aggressive hop elements. Orange flesh and rind with some grapefruit zest thrown in for good measure. Has that distinct floral/herbal combo I associate with Lagunitas hopping. Slightly chewy biscuity malts add some needed sweetness. Nice little bite of wheat in the back to let you know it's there.

Mouthfeel: Body runs on the lighter side of medium. Moderate carbonation. Smooth and easy drinking.

Overall: If this is actually a pale wheat I'm the Juggernaut.

This is a solid IPA with a heavy wheat bill. One of the better IPA-style beers from Lagunitas. If I had never tried Sucks, this would easily be there best. Fresh it's downright silly. Ages pretty quickly, but remains drinkable for some time.

I'm not sure this can really be considered a pale wheat. It is like a wheat ipa perhaps.

It is golden in appearance, with no lacing but a nice half inch head upon pouring.

The Smell is sweet and hoppy. It smells if barley and humulus.

Taste is very hoppy, but in no way do i taste wheat. It is delicious nonetheless.

Nice crisp mouthfeel. Overall this is a great beer, but if i reviewed it as a wheat ale i would have to say it is not brewed properly to style. As an ipa it is great though.
