A: Gold hue with a frothy, persistent head and fantastic lacing

S: Tropical fruits: pineapple, mango, grapefruit play off a hearty, bready wheat base--man, this smells fantastic

T: Hop forward up front but the wheat balances things out quickly--I love how the tropical fruits mingle with the wheaty breadiness

F: A touch thin considering the beer and its strength

O: I love this beer; I love hoppy wheats in general and this one is toward the front of the pack

Pours light gold and clear with two fingers of foam that won’t fall down. Lots of clinging lace. The nose is grapefruit, pine and a little resin. As it warms it smells like wheat and honey. The malt is a surprising standout in the glass. Bready and lots of biscuit. The hops are vigorous earthy and herbal. Their spiciness is tamed down by the big malt character. What a surprise this beer was. A celebration of hops without being overly fruity or bitter. A celebration of pale malt that was straightforward and not overly sweet . Robust yet easy to drink with a lightly oily mouthfeel and a long dry finish. This beer really does have a little sumpin’ sumpin’.
