All around big-assed wheat beer. Tropical fruits, citrus, and crushed aspirin get out ahead of things before eventually being reeled in by a big wheaty body. As it warms the grainy cereal notes come out even more and the absurd creaminess increases. This is just a damn good craft beer. I could see drinking it all day in the summer, except that the ABV would knock me on my ass before supper.

Poured into a 16oz Pint Glass

Appearance - Yellow/Golden color with a very clear filtered look to it. Mild carbonation going on in the inside. Pours a 2 finger head with some good lacing

Smell - Sweet Citrus and Hops, combined with caramel, toffee and malts. Everything in the nose cries out "Sweet" which is certainly not a bad thing

Taste - Sweet Citrusy Hops mixed in with a smooth caramel flavor. The malty backbone is pretty strong here and it helps add to the flavor here. The wheat taste is more in the aftertaste than anything else, as the sweet hops and malt taste overpower the wheat quite easily

Mouthfeel - Light in body and the carbonation is just right. It's an easy drinker to say the least.

Overall - The flavor reminds me heavily that of an APA or an IPA more so than a wheat ale. Still, I found this to be a very enjoyable beer that any craft beer fan should check out!

Pours out golden in color, slightly hazy, and with a big fluffy white head. Head retention is very good with Lacing around the glass.

The aroma is dominated by the citrus hops, and a hint of pine at first.... But, the hops are softened by the pale malt and wheat. Giving it a yeast bread background.

At first the bitterness of the hops hit you. More citrus flavors than sharp pine compared to this ale's big sister Sumpin' wild. Soft and light bread flavors from the malt and wheat giving something like the best of of both worlds. A wheat ale combined with an AIPA. Hops do linger on the tongue for a while. But finishes semi-dry and refreshing.

Light/medium bodied with a bit a carbonation makes this ale very easy to drink. Overall I can say hope Lagunitas keeps this pale wheat crossed with a IPA around for a long time.

Color is light amber to a dark shade of gold, and cloudy. Lots of lacing, but the moderate head fades fairly quickly. The smell is much like an APA or IPA - nice citrus notes. The wheat character of this beer comes through more in the taste, but the wheat definitely takes a back seat to the hops. There is just a touch of clove and lemon behind the surge of grapefruit. For my tastes, this beer strikes the perfect balance between a pale ale and a wheat.

Poured from a growler into a .25l Brasseurs mug.

Pours a nice yellow, honey orange and gold color with a slight hazy appearance. Has a huge honey comb colored head that leaves sticky lacy down the glass. The aroma is huge pineapple, orange peel and some sweet grapefruit. there is a nice hint of sweetness on the front of the nose and the malt creeps through to balance out the aromas but this is definitely hop forward on the aroma. The taste is very much like the aroma. It has a huge kick of sweet pineapple and orange peel. I get a little bit of a bitter grapefruit rather than sweet on the taste, but it works great with the other hop flavors. There is a malt presence that balances this enough to keep it from being a total hop bomb. Smooth arrival to the hops and dry finish. The mouthfeel is spot on for an IPA. Really has a big kick of carbonation that cleanses the palate while opening it up to all the huge flavors this beer has to offer. Not over sticky or sweet at all for such a high hop profile. Overall this is a great beer and very accessible. I wish it were year round. Definitely worth seeking out and trying.

aquired in a trade with schufj. bottle poured into a snifter. glowing golden hue capped by a 1/2" white head with fair retention. nose is complex and inviting with caramel backed by pine and citrus. Bitterness is cutting but quickly washed away with cracker and caramel sweetness. Slick, but medium bodied. Yum!
