Appearance was rich gold in color, with a slight murkiness, and thin white head...rather appealing. Aroma was faint, with a whiff of citrus. Taste was grapefruit and pineapple, with pine and herb and not enjoyable for me. Carbonation was rather light. Overall, this beer tries too hard to be an intense IPA--while unique, I found it very difficult to drink. I won't purchase again, and won't drink it again.

No bottle date

Look - Pours a clear honey gold with a rocky white head. Good retention, average distribution, small to large bubbles, good lacing.

Smell - Pine, honey, apricot, sticky resin, a bit of grapefruit zest.

Taste - Dank vegetal hops up front, citrus bitterness on the finish. A bit of pine resin and sweet malt balances it out nicely.

Feel - Medium bodied, slightly viscous. Tingle o the front of the tongue, hop oils linger.

Overall - One of the beers that tured me into a hop head, still tastes great.

The proper title should be American Strong Wheat Ale! Weizenbock strength! From the bottle, it pours a golden color with a nice head. Dangerously easy to drink!

12oz bottle in pint glass. Not my usual style, but one of the best hop flavors I've had, and balanced tastefully against the rest. Delicious! Really easy drinking for a wheat. From the description it seems like maybe it's still 50% barley; maybe that's why.

No date, purchased in December 2014, reviewed 12/31/2014.

Appearance: Dark gold/extremely pale copper; 1/4" foamy off-white head. Very active carbonation, very nice retention - a "pillowy" 1/8" off-white cap. Outstanding lacing.

Aroma: Whiff of grapefruit as soon as I pour it. VERY citrusy and sweet.

Taste: Clean, slightly sweet arrival Fruity, but not excessively so. Clean, with a touch of alcohol.

Mouthfeel: Weighty, but not viscous. Not too much carbonation. Quite soft.

Overall: I could make this a regular summer IPA; it doesn't bowl me over with the bitterness, but it is PLENTY fruity and quite refreshing.

Straw in color. Fresh hop nose is apparent. Light-bodied with really bright tropical fruit flavors and a moderate hop finish.

This offering is immanently drinkable - which is darn dangerous at 7.5%!

Beautiful dark golden yellow color. Kicked up a good two-finger fluffy off-white head that stuck around a good five minutes - great lacing till the end. The nose was typical Lagunitas, very citrusy and piney with just a hint of wheat bread in the background. The taste was nearly identical to the nose, with the pine a bit forward over the citrus. The mouthfeel was fairly thick and creamy - just about perfect. Just an outstanding beer in my opinion - I grab this one at the store very often, and will continue to in the future.

Absolutely amazing smell - very tropical, fruity and fresh. It is very smooth and pretty light on the feel. I really enjoyed this beer and could have several of them and be happy.

Along with celebration, one of my two gateway craft beers. Does not taste the way I recall. A hint of hop stoopid in the nose but not the taste. Went down real smooth.. Just not a ton of taste. 4/5.

Appearance - 4.25/5
Moderate orange-gold, very clear, a good amount of visible carbonation can be seen rising. About a finger of head upon pouring, quickly dissipates to a thin layer.

Smell - 2/5
Slightly sour and funky pine/earthy/dirt-y hops. Some resinous aspects as well. Vinegar/salty. Ultimately the smell is kinda hard to describe, and I think it's kinda gross actually, though I have smelled other beers like this.

Taste - 3/5
Still has some of the nasty smell aspects in the taste, but tastes better than the smell.. Pine, resin, ?? (something I don't like), hops. A funky-sour-citrus. As mentioned, still has a slightly strange vinegary aspect.

Mouthfeel - 3.5/5
Medium bodied. Light amount of medium-light intensity carbonation.

Overall - 3/5
This beer tasted liked a bottle 400 Pound Monkey which I reviewed, but not nearly as bad. I have a feeling that I must have a gotten a bad bottle of both, because the smell and taste is really strange.

Pale orange color, served from 12 oz. bottle. The smell is amazing, very grapefruity and sweet citrusy. That continues through other layers in the taste, which is very complex. Sweet candi, toffee, pine and grapefruit, a very balanced and easy-drinking brew that still manages to not pull any punches and makes itself known.

To me, the presence of wheat malt is not noticeable to the taste, besides the yeasty sweetness that characterizes beers like Hefeweizen--instead, the wheat comes across in the overall lightness of the beer. What is actually a pretty strong brew feels airy and light, with little alcohol taste.

Nice foamy head that settle nicely. Color is a beautiful hay yellow with consistent bubbling to the head. Smell is slight floral and fruit notes. Taste is outstanding, very hoppy (as it should be) with a combination of fruits, honey, and floral aspects. Finish and mouth feel are slightly bitter, but not off putting. Very impressive.

Poured into tulip glass a beautiful orange with fluffy white bubbles to the rim. Settles nicely with decent lacing on the glass. Incredible bouquet of floral and piney hops with a crackers and light ester notes. Taste is resiny hops, tangerines, cut grass with a semi sweet breadiness to give a balanced flavor and medium-light body to this beer. Nice crisp carbonation and excellent drinkability. I would get this again for sure!

Look- pours a straw yellow. A half a finger length head quickly dissipates into small patchy spots of lace in the center of the drink. The carbonation is visible.
Smell- fruity esters are dominant. Also, floral esters as well as a soapy and perfume like quality are evident. This brew has a nice aroma.
Taste- fruity; notably pear. Wheat malt. This brew is also quite herbal and spicy. A bitter and dry hops finish balances out the taste.
Feel- light and crisp. Carbonation stings the tongue. This one goes down smoothly and is quite refreshing.
Overall, a nice brew

Pours a light, clear gold with a thick frothy white head. Fragrant with hoppy goodness, smells of citrus, pine, very floral and non specific citrus. Tastes of citrus, subdued malts and semi sweet, pine/citrus notes (lemon/grapefruit), mild bitter bite at mid to end note and pleasant sweet with an almost caramel flavor and bready/biscuit (and clean finish). Very smooth mouthfeel, medium body with fair amount of carbonation to buoy the malts and accentuate the hops.
Overall, has the best features of a wheat beer and an IPA. Well balanced sweetness with hoppy bitterness. Great beer.

The wheat marries beautifully with the citrus-forward hops, keeping that resinous, piney note so pervasive within this style in check, while adding some bready texture to the mid-palate. Finishes dry but with a smooth, honeyed feel. Great balance.

A: Pours a clear gold with a thick, tenacious white head.

S: Aromas of minerals, pine, spruce, herbs, lemon, lime, bitter orange, grapefruit, and white wheat bread dominate the nose.

T: Robust notes of minerals, crackers, wheat bread, biscuits, herbs, pine, spruce, lemon, lime, bitter orange, and grapefruit absolutely throttle the palate. The finish is predictably bitter and resinous with pronounced lemon, grapefruit, herb, and pine notes underscored by faint traces of wheat bread and minerals.

M: Medium-bodied, soft, and smooth in the mouth. Carbonation is mildly prickly. Alcohol is practically undetectable. This ale is easy to drink despite its strength.

O: A really great ale that straddles the line between a hoppy pale wheat ale and a wheat-based IPA. This one is definitely worth seeking out on a warm day.

A- Pours a Golden colour with 2 fingers of frothy white head. The head on this beer is just endless.. It took more than a few pours to get the bottle into a glass! Awesome head retention. Lots of lacing

S- Citrus and more citrus! Lots of lemon, grapefruit, orange. Great pine notes mixed in as well. Wonderful smelling ale!

T- Like the aroma, the taste is full of citrus and pine. A slight breadiness comes in but definitely not heavy on the malt like an IPA. One of the best tasting APA's I've had.

M- Medium Carbonation. Medium feel. Carbonation is nice and bubbly on the tongue but not aggressive in any way.

O- Being a New Brunswicker, I travel to the State of Maine as often as I can to seek out some great beer that's not available at home and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have come across a Sixer of Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale in a Hannaford. Easily one of the best APA's I've had and this one is even Wheat! Extremely easy to drink even at 7.5% ABV! It will be hard to measure up to this one for sure.

Bottled on January 29, 2015. Sampled and reviewed on February 28, 2015.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams "Perfect Pint" glass. Pours a rich yellow/golden color with a 2.5 finger head of white foam. I didn't even pour aggressively and it took 2 pours to get this all in the glass. Smells amazing. Citrus, pine, grapefruit, oranges, hops. Lots of sweet fruit. Initial taste presents a kick-in-the-face hop presence which quickly fades into a tart sweetness with strong notes of grapefruit, orange peel, citrus, and malt. Very smooth for a 7.5%'er. Medium weight on the tongue. Feels a bit dry on the palate, but has a nice, wet finish.

I have to say thanks to my buddy Matt for recommending this beer. The bottle calls this an ale, but it's really a sweet IPA all day long. And amazingly drinkable. The fact that this is available year-round probably makes this my new go-to beer. Love it.

This is easily one of my top five go-to beers and it's a luxury that it's so readily available. Beer this good is usually hard to find. I love that it zings hops like a double ipa but is not heavy on the malt. Easy to drink without feeling like you ate a loaf of bread. Great beer!

I'd like to know what happened, I've had this before and it tasted like an IPA. This clearly is not an IPA. I checked the lagu website it's a wheat ale with hops added. What was I drinking before.

Poured from bottle to nonic. Appearance is a clear pale golden with white thick frothy head that leaves nice lacing. Immediately get floral and citrus aromas with a hint of bread. Flavors are similar with medium sweetness from a fruit note and a lightly bitter grassy taste. Mouthfeel is lively, with a soapy texture, and a mild but lingering bitter finish.

Nice balance between sweet & bitter. Full flavored. Strong citrus kick, grapefruity & orange peelish w/a hint of a piney element, but not overly overwhelming like some stronger IPAs. One of my go-to's.
