22oz bottle into Duvel tulip.
Appearance: Moderate pour yields a 3/4 inch fizzy white head that lasts for awhile and leaves streaks of lacing on the glass. Pours pale translucent amber with a stream of bubbles rising up in the middle. Rings of lacing last longer than the beer itself.
Smell: Big, deep smell of citrus and piny hops, with some further fruit and a mild funkiness. The smell is strong and enhances the flavor. Smells like I want a fresh IPA to smell.
Taste: First sip yields a delicious and deep malt flavor reminiscent of fresh rye bread, then quickly delivers a big hit of citrus hops which is predominantly grapefruit and lemon in character. After some carbonation sting, the bitterness yields to another round of bready malt goodness for the finish. This is an extremely well-balanced DIPA. The malt and hops don't let up for the entirety of the bottle, and other interesting flavors pop in and out, like (strangely) plum and raisin. The dominant taste is bright, hoppy, and refreshing, but I love the constant presence of various darker flavors like dark bread and fruit.
Mouthfeel: Really superb. For the most part, the mouthfeel is creamy despite the carbonation. For how full-flavored and welcomely bitter (it's a DIPA after all) this beer is, the feel is never aggressive or unpleasant.
Drinkability: Excellent. The 8.7% alcohol only makes itself known after the beer has warmed for a couple hours and gets a bit boozy at the end. Nothing at all about this beer makes me not want to drink it.
I (along with many others) have posted online about the great value of Lagunitas beer, with bombers of A Little Sumpin' Extra, Hop Stoopid, and even their Olde GnarlyWine going for $3-$4 here in everything-costs-more Connecticut (apparently cheap across the country as well). Don't get the wrong idea though; this value isn't remarkable just because it's 9%~ beer for $3/22oz. It's remarkable because Lagunitas makes high quality beer. Hop Stoopid and Sumpin Extra are easy go-to beers for me, with the latter probably a bit preferable to the former. Tonight I wanted a nice, refreshing but interesting DIPA, which is exactly what this beer delivers.

Got this beer the same day I got the Little Sumpin' Sumpin' and figured this would be just as good, especially with a higher ABV and higher IBUs.
A - Nice orange color. Just slightly cloudy from dry hopping but still looked great with fine bright white head and significant lacing.
S - Great hop aroma that makes you say "WOW". Mostly "C" hops shine through and maybe a touch of alcohol but basically all the raw hops that an IIPA should hold true.
T - Awesome showcase for the hops with all of the hop flavors from fruity to earthy wrapped up in one beautiful package. The beer has a very subtle malt flavor in the middle with a nice middle finish and a perfect bitterness. There was a very slight alcohol flavor but the hops took care to just make your mouth come alive with flavor. There is also a light acidity from the carbonation that helps make the hops "POP". It's a very solid IIPA as far as flavor.
M - Medium mouth-feel. The carbonation was strong trying to make up for the increase in body but it added an almost acidic hint which to my palate made the flavors seem like they were popping on your tongue. It finishes pretty crisp with the bitterness and carbonation queuing you up for another sip.
Overall, a delicious DIPA and look forward to trying this again next year. Awesome hoppy aroma, delicious flavor, great feel, appearance, and really get this beer going for gold. Though it isn't the very best DIPA ever it is a very tasty brew that would never turn down. I would strongly recommend trying this if you can.

The beer comes in a bright golden orange.
The aroma upfront has peaches, orange, pineapple, almost an apricot marmalade character. A candy sweetness.
The flavor follows with that dried apricot in the front, oranges, mango, peaches. This beer highlights sweet fruit tropical hops, but the there’s a touch of malt that does not override that sugar rush. Onto a light pine and medium bitterness.
The malt on this is absolutely hidden with the juicy hops all in the front. This truly does take Lil Sumpin Sumpin the next level.
