bought and drank in cambridge, ma, december 2009.
22oz. bottle poured into an oversized stein. slightly hazy orangey-copper color with ample off-white head, which dies not too quickly and leaves decent lace.
smell is good, but just not as much there as i would like. low smell of hops and earth.. also something a little strange here i can't quite place.
taste is the best part of this brew, luckily. very well balanced, with a touch of breadiness on the front followed by a well-rounded hop character - good mix of earth and pine, citrus present but not overpowering. great overall hop flavor.
mouthfeel is not quite as thick as i'd like, but pretty comfortable sitting on the tongue.
tastes great, goes down smooth, not as strong as I'd expect for a double/imperial at all, and alcohol well hidden.
