22 ounce bottle poured into a SA Perfect Pint glass. Comes in at 72 IBUS and 8.74%. No bottling date but this was just released within the last week.
A-Pours a very clear lighter colored amber. It has a one finger off white head that reduces to a frothy layer that sticks around. Lots of bubbles can be seen rising from the bottom. Leaves some nice lacing; the patterns remind me of what a windshield looks like after a cross country trip.
S-Smells very close to its younger brother. Lots of pine and sweet, fresh pineapple dominate the nose.
T-It tastes a lot like it smells. The pine and citrus are upfront. It finishes with some malt sweetness that is more pronounced than the other version. The aftertaste is very reminiscent of orange rind and grapefruit. Some booze can be detected in the back. This one really deserves a 4.25 for taste.
M-Medium bodied, smooth, creamy, and it has a nice level of carbonation. Leaves some residual stickiness on the lips.
D-The higher abv would limit this one, but for the price it is a very tasty and well done beer.
I love that Lagunitas went out and tweeked the original recipe. I prefer the original version as it is less sweet, but this was still a good beer. Nothing beats a truly fresh DIPA.
