L: Pours brilliant gold under a 2” off-white foam cap that quickly dissipates
S: Hop nose prominent, citrus and resin
T: Malt, caramel and citrus lead the attack with citrus and fruit hop flavors and a moderate bitterness bringing the beer to a close.
F: Above average carbonation, slightly above average body
O: A well made big flavored Imperial IPA that is refreshing and easy to drink.

Good beer but personally enjoy their IPA. Sucks is just available to me in my area (to my knowledge) ready to give it a try and see how I feel.

Pretty standard IPA fare. Which is to say good but it doesn't stand out. Gold-amber, leans toward red. Decent head but it faded fast.

Every Lagunitas beer tastes the same. Cookie cutter ipa.

Maybe the only Imperial IPA I want nothing to do with. And one of two hoppy beers from Lagunitas that I didn't enjoy.

Pours a clear honey straw color with a short dense creamy head that settles into a light ring and left a small wall of lacing on the glass.

The aroma is of a sweet honey malt. A bit too sweet. Some tropical fruit notes from the hops; big pineapple and apricot presence.

The taste is strong with the tropical fruit notes. Big pineapple and overripe mango. Some apricot and pepper hop notes as well. The malt is sweet and has honey notes. The combination of the tropical fruit hop notes and the sweet malt lead to a very sweet beer. The bitterness from the hops helps offset this but it is a bit too sweet for my liking.

Moderate body with prickly carbonation. Quite sweet on the palate but its not cloying as there is enough of a bitter offset. Almost sticky but not quite.

This beer walks a fine line on being too sweet and undrinkable. It doesn't get there but I much rather have the regular version of this beer or the Sucks! The malt is a bit too beefy and sweet. I figure it is the bigger wheat malt bill.

L: straw with a one finger white head
S: light grapefruit and hints of pine
T: not very good, might be a bad keg... Pine and bitter, some kind of weird rotten flavor.
M: crisp and light
O: not as good as I had hoped given how much I normally like lagunitas

Strong grapefruit aroma hits your nose as soon as you open the bottle. That follows with a strong grapefruit and hops flavor up front with a good dry bitter finish. Another excellent beer from Lagunitas.

Big fan of Lagunitas, and this brew is perfect for those nights when you both want to enjoy a good beer, and get the courage to talk to that cute girl.

Sampling right now on 12/10/14. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured in to a 'CHEERS-BOSTON" handled glass stein.

Pours a golden-honey in color with a good 1-finger foamy white head. Lots of lacing is seen when sipped that sticks to the sides of the glass. The aroma is of malts, red grapefruit and pine. More going on with the taste as you can taste the pale malts, floral and earthy hops along with some citrus zest. Has a good taste with a slight bitter finish but really doesn't last a long time. Medium-bodied and carbonation. Wasn't sure on this one but turned out ok overall.

From 12/05/14 notes

Pours a hazy medium amber color with one inch of off white head and moderate carbonation evident. Very fruity, some nice citrus hops, fruity malts, light tropical notes. Medium body and moderate carbonation.

Another solid Lagunitas beer in the LS family. Worth checking out.

On tap at Brickhouse BBQ in Madison, Wisconsin. Served in shaker pint 11/23/2014.

A- Slightly hazy amber-golden body, one finger frothy white head with good retention time. Lots and lots of rings of lacing. [4]

S- Honey, peach, nectarine, grainy malt, candied sugar. This is a quite sweet beer in both the malty and the fruit senses. This is smelling a bit different than Lagunitas' typical overhopped IPAs in the sense that the fruit aromas come out more here without as much of the resin. [4]

F- As the nose hints, this beer is on the sweet side of pretty much all double IPAs I've had. The malt stands out in a white sugary, mildly grainy manner with syrupy honey-like sweetness buttressed by tropical and stone fruits. Not much to be found in terms of bitter flavours outside of a slightly grassy bitterness on the backend. Again, very sweet but certainly easy to drink. [4]

M- Medium bodied, smooth carbonation, effervescent and mildly crisp without too much resin. Very easy to drink and no hint of the 8.5% ABV arises at all. [4]

O- A very solid DIPA from Lagunitas. Great stuff, enjoyed drinking this. A bit different than all the west coast-style dry + bitter IPAs that tend to be popular these days, despite being from the west coast, but not being quite as malty as the east coast style tends to be. [4]

Final score: 4.00

A: 3.5 - Hazy amber gold with a slight head.
S: 3.75 - BIG piney hop aroma, to the exclusion of all else.
T: 3.75 - Flavor follows the nose. This is all about the hops, and nothing else. High bitterness, and large citrus/piney-resin flavor. A little sweet malt at the end, swept away by a bracingly dry finish.
M: 3.75 - Neutral mouthfeel with a fair amount of carbonation.
O: 3.5 - Eh, I wanted to like this, like I like most of Lagunitas's offerings, but it's just so predictably, uninterestingedly hops and nothing else.

Poured into an IPA glass from a 12 oz bottle

Color is gold with a smallish white head. Lots of sticky lacing coat the sides.
Smell is really fruity - caramelized orange, peach, some fresh cut hay.
Flavor really follows the nose. It's a fruit bomb of orange and peach that finishes with a crisp bitterness that lingers just long enough. Very tasty.
Body is medium with moderate carbonation. More juicy than dry.

Sumpin' Sumpin' has always been one of my go-to beers and this edition is indeed a little "extra" - it is extra fruity. I really like it, but I still prefer the base version.

12oz bottle into tulip.

A: Pours a light honey golden with a thick, greasy, and dense off-white head that slowly faded into a thick oily film. Sticky chunks of rocky lace were left down the glass. Very fresh looking.
S: Huge notes of fresh citrus scented hops come through. I get predominant notes of orange peel, but there are hints of kumquats and sweet tangerine juice as well. Grapefruit is kept to a minimum, as are slightly roasted and caramely notes of malt and a kiss of mint.
T: Similar to the nose with hoppy flavors of orange peel and resiny, greasy hop oils. The malt comes through a bit more than the nose, and it is bready, although not toasty. The finish is herbal and spicy, and the aftertaste has lingering green, herbal, minty, and vegetal hoppy notes.
M: Greasy and resinous mouthfeel with a solid bitterness to it. The body is on the thicker, heavier side, and the carbonation is splashy and bubbly.
O: Another super delicious and extremely crushable ipa from Lagunitas. They're one of the masters of the game, and this beer further solidifies their place as one of my top favorite breweries.

Bottle poured into a Lagunitas mason jar

A: Pours deep golden yellow with a creamy off white head that laces well.

S: Citrus and fruity hops with some malt sweetness.

T: Citrus hops up front, followed with some pine and faint tropical fruit, balanced with caramel malt sweetness.

M: Medium body, medium body, hides its alcohol well, very drinkable.

O: Stumbled on a lone bottle in a build your own 6 pack section so I have no idea how fresh it really is, but even if it's less than fresh it's still pretty tasty. I will look to try this again.
