Bottles purchased from Nathaniel Square Corner Store in Rochester, NY.

Pours a golden, shimmering yellow, with some slight haze. One inch head, with lots of sticky lacing.

Smells excellent, like a West Coast IPA should. Smells like lots of pine and spruce, with juicy fruits as well.

The taste is similar. Moderately bitter, but balanced by some mild sugar cookie like malt flavors, and insanely juicy citrus and tropical fruit hop flavors. Orange, peach, pineapple, and grapefruit galore. There is some dank pine resin flavors, as well, with some distinct marijuana as well.

Medium bodied, crisp mouthfeel up front, ends a bit creamy and oily. There's a medium level of carbonation. This one is unbelievably, the 8.74% ABV doesn't show at all.

A most excellent IPA, probably their second best after Sucks. I'm really happy they brought this one back.

In true Lagunitas fashion, A Little Sumpin' Extra is an intensely hoppy beer with understated and subtle malt character with barely noticeable alcohol- a great platform for an explosive display of hops!

Honey-gold in color and with a faint haze, the firmly frothy ale is all about the hops- candied orange, grapefruit, a tinge of lemon drop and tropical fruit rest upon the slight malt sweetness of angel food cake which acts only in a supporting role.

Its soft bread sweetness is malty and seems to highlight a fructose character of vine-ripened fruit. With that plethora of citrus weaving in and out of tropical pineapple, apricot and passionfruit, a smooth rindy bitterness pulls forth.

Its light body and sweetness evaporates off the palate much like cotton candy- a tremendous testament to the beer's dry bready malt and saturating hop flavor and feel. Slight vegetative notes offer a taste of verbena and fresh-cut grass with playful acidity and soothing alcohol warmth that's tucked just behind the hops.

Its soul of wheat gives A Little Sumpin' Extra that little something extra that without the description, you'd be hard pressed to put your finger upon. Its a firmly supported, hop-dominant ale that doesn't allow the heartiness of higher-kilned barley to compete. Its simply a masterful taste and a culinary delight.

Had on-tap at Westville Pub Asheville. Served in a tapered glass.

A- Pours a light amber color with a 1/2 inch off-white head that retains well bef becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a full thick sheet of surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a thick ring behind.

S- That wonderfully citrusy signature Lagunitas aroma with, as promised, an extra kick and sweetness to it. Notes of mango, grapefruit and just a touch of booze.

T- Soooo juicy. A big hit of citrus with just enough bitterness to make it damn near perfect. Notes of pineapple, peach and more grapefruit. Just a twinge of alcohol is spot-on.

M- Sharp, but not too sharp with medium carbonation and a lightish body.

O- Assertive but somehow balanced. A masterpiece of an IPA. Been waiting a long time to finally try this and it delivered.

Appearance: Pours a vibrant, clear orange. Big fluffy white head. Great retention and tons of lacing.

Aroma: Smells like a bigger version of A Little Sumpin Sumpin. Big notes of apricot, peach, and citrus with hints of piney undertone. Sweet, pale malt structure softened by the presence of wheat.

Taste: Opens again with a pale, sweet and slightly sugary malt profile that transitions into and provides a nice backdrop for lots of juicy citrus and fruit hop quality. Lots of orange and grapefruit zest, pineapple, apricot, and tropical fruit. Dries out quickly with a pleasant and clean bitterness. Not fatiguing on the palate. A bit of sweet malt sugariness opens the finish but it dries out quickly with a moderately bitter hop fruity finish.

Feel: Light in body for a beer of this nature with medium carbonation. Some malt sweetness but doesn't quite reach the level of sticky. Alcohol is present but doesn't detract from the beer. Medium and very clean bitterness that doesn't tax the palate. Super drinkable.

Overall: Really enjoyable beer. Might enjoy this guy's little brother a bit more, but I'm good for a 6-pack of this every time it's released.

Excellent little sumpin' extra. The extra is more hops. As a fan of the standard (and this coming from a stout and Belgian drinker) it is a wonderfully balanced ale. Pours a lustrous amber yellow with thick off white foam and amazing cling to the side of the glass lacing. Smells of grapefruit and heavy citrusy oranges and lemons with a sweet malt background. Taste is excellent with citrus hops up front---grapefruit, oranges, lemon zest, and with a balanced sweet background and decent carbonation to make it very satisfying. Aftertaste is citrus laced bittering hops that hangs with you. While NOT a hop head, I like this beast, although Little Sumpin' Sumpin' is still in my opinion a more balanced ale, this is a close second. I enjoy it more with each sip and find myself editing the review as I go...THAT is a world class beer in my humble opinion. Cheers.
