Acquired via trade from hoppymcgee so a big "Thank You" goes out to him. Poured from a 22oz. bottle into an imperial pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color with a thin off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of apples, Belgian yeast, light malts and a little bit of hops.

T: The taste starts with sweet and tart fruit flavors of apples and citrus that are quickly followed by some spices and the breadiness of Belgian yeast. The malt character is thin but provides the beer with a nice refreshing quality. There's a decent hops presence that brings a nice balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Smooth and very crisp, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

D: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, good kick, decent representation of style, this is a nice lighter and refreshing Belgian-style beer with some good substance to it and is worth drinking for a long time.

pour is a bit amber for me. not murk? clear. white head. consistent bubbles coming from the top. smell is not skunky. mild malt. american hopped but with a light pilsner. taste is pilsner and a light sweet of... something saison but falls short. as the beer gets warmer it disappates. malt characters some forward. i would even say too much. there is no farm in this bottle but a clean version of mildly belgian sweetened pilsner beer with a mild amber ale malt quality.

#10. I had this beer on a hot, humid day and it was great. Clear gold pour with a frothy white head. Spicy, fruity aroma, apples, clove, bubblegum. Spicy sweet, with a good malt flavor. Welcom fruitiness, as it was not enough to ruin the taste. I'd rather stick with an IPA in the same stiuation, but this will work just as good.

Single, 1 pint, 6 fl oz bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors on Chrystie Street in Manhattan for $3.70...
"Crispy Summer Ale" on the front logo sticker...
A hefty pour yielded a tawny, straw-colored, golden hue with a modest head that quickly receded and left hardly any lacing around the edge of the serving glass...
Aroma was replete with spices, wheat, honey-dew melons, and green apples...
Tart, bittersweet flavor with hints of pears, green grapes, and canteloupe... Earthy flavor with nuances of candied sugars and honey...
Crisp, clean, clear mouthfeel along with a decent level of drinkability...
Certainly not your typical Saison, yet an interesting American selection nonetheles... All in all, not the best sample from Lagunitas...

Pours a bright orange with lemony hues. The large eggshell lid sticks for a bit before leaving some sticky lace.

The aroma is sweet and flowery. Clove makes an appearance and mild yeasty spiciness keeps it real.

Medium bodied and fairly creamy with fine carbonation. Floury sweetness mingles with a mellow wheaty backbone, while sweet lemony citrus and cream rounds the edges of the tongue. Mild yeasty spice in the finish quickly fades from the palate.

This is a quite mellow version of the style, but remains fairly tasty and drinkable. Still, I expect a bit more complexity from this fine brewery.

Appearance- Pours a nice straw to golden in color, beady head with lots of little bubbles. Very clean looking beer.

Smell-Flowery nose, with a sweet smell, some hints of sweet candy.

Taste- Sweet, yet balanced with an incrediblt well balance malt backbone, some horseblanket here, definitely a subtle yeast taste.

Mouthfeel- Light to Medium bodied beer, again a very clean, crisp tasting beer, sweet yet almost dry finish.

Drinkability- This tastes like it crosses over between a Siason, Golden ale, and a Pils. Good combonation. Easy drinker, I could drink this anytime of the year.

A: Poured into a pint glass. Body is clear, light golden. Lots of bubbles, but only a very small head. No lacing.

S: Smells like a wheat beer -- wheaty and slightly lemony with a touch of cloves and some other unidentifiable spice.

T: Also tastes like a wheat beer -- mainly wheat and some cloves. Finishes pretty crisp and lemony; reminds me of some pilsners in that respect.

M: It is fairly light in heft and smooth and creamy in feel.

D: Good.

Notes: I really thought that what I was drinking was closer to an American Wheat Ale than a Saison, which is admittedly not a style I'm very familiar with. Not a bad beer, but I don't think it's complicated, or heavy, enough to be considered a Saison. Seems to be much closer to a slightly heavy summer wheat ale (which is what I think the bottle advertises).

#10 (aka #9) pours a golden yellow color. Don't blink, 'cuz you might miss the quick appearance of the white head. Lacing doesn't appear, however.

The nose consists of peppery spices, yeast, candied sugar, and just a hint of caramel. Smells good, but it's not anything outstanding.

The flavor follows those same lines. Spicy, peppery, yeast, and some fruity flavors that weren't present in the smell.

Thinner, crisp mouthfeel. Active carbonation keeps those bubbles popping. Good brew for a summer day.

Presentation: Bottle from Binny's in Schaumburg, Illinois. Forgot about this one in the back of the cellar, so it's a year old at this point. Expected it to be sad, but it's actually pretty good.

A: Light golden ale that shimmers a bit in a pint glass. Light white head that disappears very quickly. Looks lighter than the smell and taste bears out.

S: Spicy and peppery nose that reaches up very nicely, in spite of the age on this beer. Didn't have it young, so don't know if it's mellowed or not, but it's pretty good now.

T: More spice and pepper, along with a fruity character that has some depth to it. Enjoyable.

M: A bit light but not watery in any way.

D: Easy and smooth. Bit of a bite in the front, and a nice mellow lingering of spice in the mouth that doesn't disappear as you pause between sips.

Overall: A pleasant surprise from a mistake to let a bottle sit longer than I would have normally. Aged well, or at least wasn't hurt by it all that much. Complex and good beer--maybe it would've have been better early, but I'm not going to now--this one was just fine.

A golden yellow bubbly brew, head and lace will appear if aggressively poured.

Surprising Belgium yeast candy cane in the aroma, bubble gum and clove. This one’s reminding me more of a Belgium pale ale more than the label advertised “summer ale”.

Sweet, fruity and tangy in the quaff – like a summer hefe loaded with the Belgium yeast. Dry and crisp, this was an excellent beer to sit down with as the summer winds down.

Another fine Lagunitas offering.

Bomber poured into tankard. Gold colored, good amount of carbonation, lacing that slides down, and small head. A lot of yeast on the nose, almost a sweet tart smell.

Nice wheat-yeast, grainy flavor that provides a sweet-crisp hit to the palette. Somewhat doughy, peppery after taste. Mouthfeel is quite light that leaves a small film of puckery wheat in the mouth.

A nice summer beer and easy to put down, I am not a big Saison fan but glad I picked this one up, a very nice offering. Could be a nice session brew, especially when its 95' and a nice ABV at 6.6%.

Pours a clean deep yellow with a white head that doesn't hang around. It has the aroma of sweet malt and caramel. Malty and sweet with hints of caramel and a bit yeasty. Crisp and bubbly, it starts sweet then a clean end. Refreshing and good for summer, yet ballsy. Smooth and a bit higher in alcohol.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden yellow color, nice carbonation, nice little fizzy off-white head, not much sticky lacing afterwards. The nose is mostly malty, yeasty, spicy, light touch of caramel. The taste is malty, and yeasty for the most part, a touch of spices and caramel. This is a freshing brew though. Medium body. Drinkable, a nice saison from Lagunitas.

Sampled at biegaman's super extravaganza spring Saison tasting! Biegaman cracked this one open.

Pours a clear golden/yellowish tinge, small white head, lace spots, thin collar around the glass, pretty average. Smell is sweet, caramel, citrus and floral, bready, pretty clean, but pretty subdued. Taste is similar, caramel, iron that seems to be in every Lagunitas, wheat, citrus and floral, kind of grainy, weird for a saison, but it works okay. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation. Not bad, pretty drinkable, thanks Jan!
