Agree 100% with Claspada
Pours a dark amber color, nearing brown/mahogany with a fairly large off-white head that leaves some ample lacing.
Aromas begin with some piney and floral hops. Then you get a fair amount of nuttiness along with a subdued caramel sweetness in the background.
The tastes begin with bready malts, hinting at toasted grains and with dark caramel and brown sugar sweetness. Adequate hop character of resiny pine and fruity citrus. As it warms you get notes of chocolate powder.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Malty, sweet finish, though there's a bit of bitterness that outlasts the sweetness in the aftertaste.
Overall this is a very good beer from Lagunitas. I wasn't quite sure what to make of it after the first few sips, but it certainly grew on me.
